I tried image to 3d model from a picture of my sister’s dog. Yes, it was not very detailed. But my sister and brother right away could see that it was her dog. I have only tried it one or 2 times since I only got my X1C about 1+ months ago. But the best pic I believe at this time of writing is have a good closeup of the object and remove the background. What I am so amazed is that it could take 1… 1 picture and create a reasonably good model. I have an iphone 16 pro max with lidar scanning. In the past 15 pro max/14 pro max. I tried scanning an object and I could never get anything remotely good. The apps could never render enough of the object to get a good scan. Maybe these app need AI to help fill in the gaps. That is a bummer that I have a very capable lidar scanner in my pocket but no good software to use it. I wish a company like Bambu would make such really good software for my iphone. But, I am not holding my breath. That’s the one gripe I have with Apple. The other issue with Image to 3d is that there is no way to know exactly what my object with one picture only looks like on the part that do not show in the picture if you really want detail of an object. Ie the starship Enterprise, etc, etc. I still like the idea of having AI built into apps to make editing, designing, etc. easier. And even quicker to get my job done. IE is if a AI could, as pointed out create me a starting point to get me started. One last example: Taking my objects in Shapr3d on my ipad and align them together perfectly to a plane. And other mundane tasks. Or “design me a hing” now create me a rectangular wall x,y,z dimensions, etc. you get the idea. This is what I am waiting for. I read a book many years ago that described such an AI. Where you would work together to create things or computer programs.
The server might be overloaded or there’s a bug. I managed to upload once, but after that, I kept getting errors.
