New MakerLab tool Image to 3D model

I was curious to try the new tool for creating 3D models from images with AI, but I can’t upload the images, or rather, I was only able to upload an image once, then always a server error.
Has anyone already managed to use this new tool?

I have given a try a couple times today and it has errored out every time. It clearly is a long way from working yet. Will be pretty cool though if they can get it to work.

I had the same error but then one of my tries worked after I waited a hour to try again.

should be named Image to Error tool

It’s called “Photogrammetry” and there are plenty of other versions out there that do the same thing if you want to try the technique out and the BBL site doesn’t work. Just do a google search for “Photogrammetry Software”.

I got it to work once and it came out fantastic. It got the basic look but I had to edit it in blender to give it more detail. The quality was pretty good though.

I’m talking about this Sign In - Bambu lab , not photogrammetry.

Photogrammetry is a bit of a older technique where you use multiple images from various angles that are stitched together to get 3D information from that. This uses a single image and a trained AI model to generate a 3D model based on the training data (I guess Makerworld trained on the complete 3D model database they have and the mandatory pictures of those models so that it can predict what kind of 3D model features are represented in an image). Given this AI functionality takes up quite a bit of resources you get a limited use of 10 a month and obviously, it is very overloaded at the moment due to limited capacity and high demand. Probably best to try it again in a couple of days.

I’m getting 404 file not found errors. Looks like maybe it got pulled back?

Yes, they have suspended the service, but anyone who wants to try it can go to this link https://www.tripo3d.ai/

Read the post above yours

Thanks for the update on this.

I got it to work as well, but when i downloaded it, the version with textures. The model looks good in 3d builder, but when i go to slice it in cura i lose the texture part.It looks more like a the mesh only version

Yeah so that is definitely what mine did. I’d recommend putting it in blender and remeshing it and using the sculpting smooth tool and that should make it look nice. I realize not everyone has blander skills but it is really easy.

my downloaded glb file with textures, are missing the textures when i open in cura. Also missing when opening with blender. The look fine in 3dbuilder and 3dpaint.Cant find the actual texture file, just a single glb file.

It’s a good tool to get a base mesh throw it into blender and improve on. The technology is still a work in progress, and will only get better with time.

I wish they would change the limit from 10 per month to a wait time like they have with the AI Scanner. The thing with AI is sometimes it doesn’t get it right the first time, and being able to go in and redo it without having a numbered limit would be nice.

It’s still a cool tool and awesome that it’s free to use.

Can you suggest any resources to learn blender?

I have never used it and want to learn how to make the Photogrammetry good enough to print

I could probably find you a video of just how to smooth a model but you have to hope that the model that bambus tool spits out is good enough to just smooth. I’ve tried it maybe 5 times now and only once have I gotten a model I liked. But it’s probably on me not giving it good enough pictures.

same here, I am using blender just to check if it looks ok but it’s the mesh only version
