It’s April 29, 2025 where I live. I just went to my collections page - Private. I don’t like the layout change. For each of my collections the page is showing up to 4 models. Each model has a “visual search” button that is hard to see but easy to accidentally click on. The title of the collection is white on top of the bottom left model: very hard to read in my opinion.
Here is a screenshot where I have put a black or yellow square when the “visual search” button is. In this screen shot it is much easier to see the title of the collection that it actually is. It is not impossible to read it just hard for me.
I used to be able to rename a collection from the main Collections - Private screen. Now I have to open the collection to edit it. When I’m reordering my collections by renaming them, this now takes much longer. If MakerWorld would allow sorting of collections alphabetically by name, this would not be an issue. The only for me to reorder them is to rename a collection which forces it to the top. I can do this over and over again in reverse alphbetical order and sort the collections. A lot of work which is even more work now that I have to open each collection before renaming it.
Yeah I don’t like the update either. Previously, the image shown for a Collection had a ratio of 4:3, just like everything else on MakerWorld. With the new update, it looks like it’s 1:1 and messes up all my Collection cover photos:
The top row is 4:3 images for models with the second row showing the 1:1 images for collections. You can see it cuts off the sides of the cover photo for the collections and doesn’t look good. I don’t think it makes sense to switch to 1:1 for the cover photos at all; all the photos for MakerWorld are 4:3 so regardless if you make a custom cover or use a default image from a model it won’t look good converted to 1:1.
I hope this can reversed, otherwise I’ll either have to remake the collection photos as well as the model photos to have the photos fit properly.
And the way to get to the (private) collections is a long way now:
-
open the menu
-
hover on “user profile”
-
click on “collections”
-
click on “private”
-
click on your collection
I guess a lot of people have something like “next print” as a private collection. I “solved” it, by setting a bookmark to the collection, but it is still not a great user experience.
