Oh boy. Just has a peek at the new reasons to report a profile and they are dizzying and confusing. There are new reasons like Point System Abuse “Download Cheating” and Cheating. Anyone know the difference? There is now also Content Flooding for “Duplicate Uploads.” So, if someone uploads a profile that simply adds the numbers of copies, is that Point System Abuse Cheating or Content Flooding Duplicate Uploads?
Reporting is about to get a little more chaotic.
Actually, Bambu detects this on its own by comparing IP addresses and accounts. I have no idea how someone outside the system could figure that out.
On the other hand, Bambu isn’t doing anything to stop point farming. Current status: They’re still online - and have been for weeks now. What’s the point of reporting something for download cheating if they already ignore reports about point farming?
It’s probably just going to be fed into the scanner’s AI anyway; no human is going to look at it.
Download cheating can sometimes be noticed by a high number of downloads for a model that shouldn’t have that many, for example because of age or it’s just a cube. You’re right that Bambu could also figure that out.
Remind me next April 1st to start a viral short about using a 3d printer’s built in camera for faceID to verify users, maybe it’s for some model repo site’s points system, or maybe it’s for gun control. We’ll see how I feel in April.
