New message centre unlabelled button requires a confirmation

This is both a feature request and a bug report.

The new message centre will take sine getting used to, but, that is usually true.

However, this new unlabelled button with a confusing icon that looks like the brush end of a paint brush is actually a “MARK EVERY SINGKE MESSAGE EVERYWHERE IN HERE AS READ” button with nothing to indicate it use and absolutely no confirmation dialog to confirm this choice was intentional.

Given the rules of UX, anything destructive requires confirmation, especially if there is no undo (there isn’t), a dialog seeking approval for such a destructive action should be presented.

The icon doesn’t reflect the action it performs and can easily be accidentally touched, triggering an action that can’t be reversed.

Bad coding, poorly considered.

Also, has anyone worked out how to mark anything as unread? It is in the feature list for this release.

No amount of left or right swiping produce the expected outcome as this is the industry standard UX interaction to trigger the status change.

Long presses do not trigger it either.
