New Print Profile Rules - I'm feeling fooled by Makerworld

Pictures can/will help in other ways also , especially when it comes to false ratings / reports , id of thought

of course they do. and they are also there. just not added to the profiles…

edit:
just for making yourself a mind → Magic Minecraft Sword

I think if you look at the word quality it is being used in/as an overall, rather than a specific , if that makes sense to readers

that’s why I say you need to differentiate

between ? old and new ? it used to be that a ratings photo would suffice, but i noticed a few people were just copying old photos from other sites , some of which was paid for content , that wouldnt print the free version, from my pov if its good enough for me then why not everybody ? after all were all equal aint we ?

between how you can achieve quality. does it really generate quality by just adding a photo to the print profile? no - as you said you could also steal a picture or just make a pic of the nice side, etc. …
makerworld is arguing that they want to improve quality. YES - I’m with them. there are tons of models where just rendered pictures where uploaded (in the past there have also been contest winners…). I do not like those either.
what I did for some models → I uploaded pictures, videos, detailed descriptions. In my eyes they absolutely create the quality they (makerworld) are demanding. but I just added the auto-generated pictures to the profiles because there is also material which shows the print in the description or in the diashow. so what do you prefer? rules to generate pseudo-quality just for following the rules or content which really helps others?!
so again - I’m not against those rules in the whole. I’m arguing against pseudo rules which do not lead to anything when the target they shall achieve is already fullfilled otherwise. this is why I say differentiate.

Enhancing the Print Profile Experience on MakerWorld

2023-10-23 12:03
Dear MakerWorld Community,

We want to address a crucial aspect of our platform to enhance the user experience for all our valued members. Accumulating points on MakerWorld is integral to the MakerWorld experience. However, we’d like to emphasize that earning points is not as straightforward as merely uploading Print Profiles.

To uphold the highest quality standards and ensure an exceptional printing experience, we kindly ask all Print Profile creators to meticulously assess the quality of their submissions. Additionally, we now require Print Profile creators to include actual print images alongside their Print Profiles. As of today, we’re offering a grace period of 10 days for Print Profile creators to update their existing creations. During this period, creators only need to add actual print images to the ‘Print Profile Pictures’ section.

After these 10 days, in the interest of fairness and transparency, Print Profiles lacking actual print images will be automatically placed at the end of the list on model pages. Moreover, the model designer will have the authority to review and remove such Print Profiles. This step allows us to prioritize Print Profiles that offer a comprehensive and accurate representation of the intended print.

We highly value your feedback and your dedication to the MakerWorld community. If you have any additional concerns or suggestions about this update or any other aspect of our platform, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re here to listen and continuously enhance the MakerWorld experience for all our users.

It’s been a rule all along. You can complain about lack of enforcement, but you can’t complain about it being new rule. You can complain about if it makes sense or not, but you can’t change it, been in effect for a bit.

Now that’s how it is. Their playground their rules. Even if you don’t like the rules or don’t think they make sense they apply to everyone and that’s that.

Scream into the void, just know the uselessness of it.

maybe it’s not useless. that’s why I started that discussion. in the past they always had an ear for the designers.

IMG_9989 Again,
You’ve had since oct 23 to follow the rule. Not sudden, and you shouldn’t have to go back.

this does not help in any way.

Do you need better context of overall ? as im not going to give away all the secrets
its nothing special Small bottle by Neiljt - MakerWorld

If I get a message before something is blocked or removed, I’m happy about that. If it’s just photos, I just upload them. But basically everything is on the pages when you upload things (photo for print profile etc.) If you just work through it, you can’t do much wrong. I also found it annoying to keep adding the same photos here and there. But there are more annoying things.

I never understood the renderings either. The only point I see is that Makerworld should simply look great when you get to the site. If it was up to me, only photos showing the real printed object would be allowed. I mean what’s the point of providing the best rendered images to get over a bad print or even a bad model (as a consolation)? Or is this about presenting 3D printed models that we think are great? Well, I digress.

feel blessed. they deleted my print profiles and i re did them adding real pics and they’re still telling me they’re still reviewing and said the fact that my profiles are in compliance doesnt affect their decsion on what action they may take.

What I have come to face is that rules here on @MakerWorld are enforced differently depending on the level of how popular your stuff is.

Unless you are a little fish they don’t seem to really care about you, and thus you have to follow the rules, it’s a black-and-white world.

but if you have many thousands or even tens of thousands of downloads they ask you kindly to fix whatever is wrong like adding a picture to a print profile and you will not be punished in any way. so more gray scaled than black-and-white.

@Basti85
They don’t look over your stuff that well when looking for prints to Feature. I have found print profiles from users that are featured on makerworld, and that have no real pics on the print profile.

you are absolutely right. some are more equally than others (that’s something we say in germany)… I also reported models like this a while ago and always got a negative response. In the meanwhile they wrote me that it is enough - as all of you did - to add the same pics to all profiles. I did this for some profiles but not for every profile. this really does not give you any value. it’s just to follow the rules as they do not want to check the cases I proposed. but as you said there are still exceptions where nothing will happen and this really pisses me off.

yep - this is not okay. as @ZaxMan3D mentioned → for big fishes the world is different. I don’t like this either way… we can and should use the forum to shout out!

Been there, done that, even named a few already and was called a “stinker” or jealous at the time.
Fairness is what drives a sharing comunity and @MakerWorld will have to address that one day… or when a big youtuber exposes that problem.
Until then, those with 20k+ downloads/prints and that “verified” checkmark will do what they want. Just look at the front page where a guy uploads daily models of Deco, that are clearly fake and AI generated and he even admits it in some models, and the print result of the model is worse than sh!t sometimes.

Let’s see where this is headed until then.

While “chatting” with support over tickets I ran an experiment.

I mentioned to the support that I found it odd how they are smiting me with removing print profiles and points when I see others with newer uploaded print profiles missing real images, that remained untouched!

they did not know what I was referring to so I sent a link to the specific model, and wouldn’t you know, within a few days there was a real print image. The print profile was still there with all its many thousands of downloaded and prints.

Was I surprised, not really.
