New printer, bad extruder motor

I have a new P1S and after about 10hrs of print time the extruder motor doesn’t spin, even when the extruder is NOT connected to the printer. It just makes a loud stuttering noise.

I have a video of the problem but I can’t seem to upload it here.

I have already created a support ticket. I have a spare motor on hand but before I replace it I just wanted to check to see if anyone on the forum has experienced a similar issue and if I the problem was in fact a bad motor and not something else.

Post your video on a platform like youtube, mark it as unlisted so it doesn’t appear in your uploaded videos and post the link

Here is the video showing the problem. The first half of the video is with the extruder attached to the tool head but without filament. The second half is with the extruder completely removed.

It looks/sounds like your extruder motor has some difficulties when operating, have you tried taking the toolhead apart and cleaning it and putting grease where there is needed?

Power off the printer, and try to spin the motor by grabbing the spur gear with your fingers. If you cannot spin it at all or very hard to spin it, then the motor seizes.

The motor cable must not have been seated properly. I took the extruder plastic housing off and disconnected the motor cable from the PCB, reconnected it and all is good now. This is on a new printer so I guess the cable came loose after a few hours of print time. If it happens again I’ll add some glue to the connection.
