Problem:
I often don’t like the way the seam mode “Back” works, because (depending on the model), the seam can jump around from one side of the model to the other.
Desired Solution:
Allow for an X/Y coordinate to be specified (even better if there’s also a GUI element we could drag) that would be used to calculate where to put the seam.
It would also be most flexible if this were implemented as both a global setting and as a modifier on any given model.
Imperfect Alternatives Tried:
- Alternative 1: Putting the seam in “Back” mode and rotating the model helps sometimes, but this isn’t always possible or desired. Plus, it appears that “Back” uses the entire back plane, which is causing the seam to be distributed throughout the model rather than be more aligned and consistent. Using a specific vertical line at an X/Y coordinate would provide greater precision and control.
- Alternative 2: Paint the seam, but this can take a lot of time and is error prone.
