this is my first appearance in this forum, while I am waiting for my first printer ever (a P2S) that should arrive this week.
I have just received my smooth PEI plate, and I already have two stupid questions:
Should I peel off the protective foils on both surfaces once I install it, or may I leave one the plate in order to profit from its protection while it is unused?
Am I right assuming that both sides are identical, so I can flip it once it is used or dirty?
Yes it is double sided. I am not sure what foil as mine was wrapped in plastic. I would remove any packaging and foil/plastic. The plate is magnetic and something between could cause the plate to shift or pull up.
Clean your plate with plain soap and water, drying it off with a clean paper towel.
Remove both, otherwise the film may bulge and the plate jump off the heating bed, damaging your printer. That’s why there is a green flag telling you to remove it.
You’re right, it’s about the smooth PEI plate, but I’ve had some with foil and some without. No idea why. Maybe they come from different factories.
