New super tack plate does not work as advertised. localization marker cannot be detected and adhesion is horrible. I waited months for these and they do not work at all.
Did you make sure that the temperature is right, and it is set as the super tack plate in your slicer?
Thanks,
OTpandy1
Have a happy new year!
You sure your data collection used to make this decision is not the fail here?
But made for a cool title I guess.
You should turn off the auto detect for the plate as advised by Bambu Lab as there is an issue with the placement of the tag.
My experience is good and bad with Supertack plate…
Good with regular PLA (10° lower heat bed than Textured PEI) and I love the fine surface texture. So it’s a win/win for PLA.
But total Spaghetti with PETG-HF even with the standard heat bed setting, which is the same like the textured PEI.
Care to elaborate? Making such a statement is fine, but you give no rhyme or reason as to why such a declaration.
Pretty sure that this is stated by BL. RIF
Again, how or why is this your experience. It could easily be something wrong with your particular plate, or user error. No shame in making a mistake, but it’s only a waste and failure if you do nothing to try and figure out the basics of the problem.
There’s evidence on this forum that you’re not correct. If you’d like to figure it out I’m sure plenty would love to help you.
Judging by you’re Thumb Steer Wheels you have knowledge. They seem to print well on the PEI you use, and come out nicely. Seeing you use ASA remember that plate isn’t recommended for anything other than PLA or PETG.
Anyway, if I were into RC I’d grab that wheel, look useful and cool.
You need to turn off plate localization detection, leaving it enabled and clicking “continue” or whatever people are clicking breaks it.
I’m sure one exists or you can create with PLA and just glue it. Or copy the sticker and print on adhesive label paper.
Just weighing in here on my experience. I started using the super tack using PETG-HF and was quite pleased initially. Several prints in things started to fall apart rapidly. First it was build plate recognition errors, then spaghetti on first layers, and then bed mesh leveling issues which I’ve never had.
Washing the plate with Dawn did not help in anyway. I’ve never tried PLA on it. The failures just started out of the blue. After much troubleshooting and maintenance, I did a quick search and saw that others were having similar issues. A couple hours lost trying to fix something that had known issues.
ordered 2 plates for my A1 Minis. they worked fine for first print then zero adhesion. cleaned 3 times with soap and water and still spaghetti failure all around went back to my Pei plate.
I’m having issues with pla on A1. First print was amazing, couldn’t get it off, but second print started warping, so washed as per instructions, but third print was the same (not quite as bad). Not sure if the lower temp isn’t helping as it’s pretty cold here at the moment, so wondering if that’s causing the pla to cool too much after a few layers.
So far though, not impressed
This has been my exact experience. Except that initially nothing would stick to it at all.
And I haven’t had consistent success with it at all either. I’ve given up using it over my Biqu Frostbite in all of my printers. I still use the Bambu Textured PEI and the carbon fiber pattern one, but I won’t be buying another super tack.
PETG prints (if they work at all) will work one time and then if I’m very lucky they will work after one thorough wash with Dawn - yes, I’m suggesting I have to wash it with Dawn after every single print. Usually more than once.
PLA seems to do okay, but then I’ve never had issues with PLA sticking so long as it had been washed since the last different material type (PETG, TPU). I wash the plates regularly, wipe with IPA between prints and don’t touch them in the build area.
In contrast I can’t tell you the last time I had a failure due to adhesion on the Frostbite except the other day when I selected the wrong plate, so the bed temp was 35 deg instead of the target 75 for that PETG - and it still made it through about 10 layers before it came off.
Same issues with super-â– â– â– â– -tack
First few prints mind-blowing adhesion and superb layer smoothness.
After few prints started warping (5 prints).
Used IPA (learned later I should not apply IPA as it leads to damaging the coating.
Used soapy water and gave it proper scrub almost at car detailing level.
Tested and Spaghetti
Getting better results with 3dlac but people say (including chatgpt) that it will damage the surface overtime or will make it unusable due to uneven layer of lack coatings.
Proper long-term solution still unknown
My experience so far has been horrible.
No PETG nor PLA worked. So far it didn’t reach any second layer.
It shows some faint signs of improvement when the printer has the door open with a giant fan in front of it. My guess is that this build plate just is not suitable for an enclosed printer, and Bambu messed up rushed with it anyway.
@johnfcooley and others: there’s no point on your condescending comments. Please try to improve the conversation instead of criticizing people that are seeking their consumer rights.
Well sure. You can’t get it to work so it MUST be a BL issue right? A cool plate will not care what printer is using it, as PLA can be printed without heat. PLA would be easy mode with this plate.
I see, glad I understand now. Don’t call anyone out for something they could be doing wrong, or making a statement that leaves nothing for anyone other than “doesn’t work”.
You realize your comment provides nothing to the conversation as well right? It simply states you can’t get it to work then claims BL messed up with no real evidence beyond your own experience. PLA will print on cardboard.
Not sure what “rights” your seeking? The right to complain? No big conspiracy here, if you don’t like the plate return it. No one is putting a gun to your head. That’s it. You can complain, but if you state it in a public forum then don’t cry when you get pushback.
Trying to call me out when you’ve been on the board for less than half an hour is rich. Go read.
You don’t even have this Build Plate, right? You just have to come in defense of BL for… what reason actually? If you are being paid by BL, fix the issue instead of whining.
This is far from the only thread about adhesion issues of this plate. I created a user and commented just to confirm you are toxic.
You don’t know consumer rights?! What a failure of education you received. If a product does not work as intended refunds need to be sent to affected consumers. And if it’s a systematic failure, a class action can be awarded.
Please tell me where in this thread I’m defending BL. Hell, show me where they need to be defended. Amusing that you claim I’m whining when that’s all you’ve done for 2 posts. “BL bad, plate no stick, sue sue sue!”.
Good, I have another fan. Show the folks where the bad johnfcooley touched you.
This is, well dumb.
First, yes and your right is to return it for a refund. Simple.
That’s your right. I’m failing to see where a “systematic failure” is occurring or how the hell it could with a build plate. I bet you leave one star reviews if something isn’t in your color.
So, welcome to the board, welcome to my fan club. Cookies in the back and tissue at the door.
Agreed. Advanced user here. The super tack plate was a total failure. Our team reverted back to the standard coolplates.
Can also confirm something is wrong, but it’s an interesting one and despite support having told me nothing has changed in manufacturing i highly doubt it
I bought one supertack right at release, it worked - and still does - amazingly, I really like it, so I ordered two more and also one for the a1 mini about two weeks ago, and they are all cr@p, and if I use my old one, it’s great again
So something is off, if anything my first one was sometimes too sticky (I even had a print leave the first layer there once) and my assumption is that they have changed something or manufacturer or something like that, as there’s no explanation, same design, same material is great with my old one and lifts on the new ones
Any visual differences?
I can’t justify ordering one. I have too many plates and adhesion isn’t an issue with any of them. Still can’t beat the Wham Bam textured plate.
It’s a soft coating, wonder if the formula was changed, or coating method. Curious. I would trust you’re not using Alcohol or caustics to clean it so I wonder.
I may just order one for the mini and play with it. Daughter can use it.
