New to me X1C issues first layer dragging or not extruding

Purchased from a friend whos’ had successful prints through it. I just cant seem to get it in gear to even begin to troubleshoot.

Every calibrate or Flow rate doesnt seem to give me any more info to direct next step to fix.
The prints seem to just not be sticking or isnt leveled, or not extruding onto bed. Not sure. Ive had a Ender 5 before and could get descent prints out of it, self leveling.

Im just not up to school on what this issue is to try and next step fix. Ive self leveled , ran the full calibrate, tried a flow rate.

Using bambu pla, cold plate, stock settings, glue stick.

Its a stand answer but

  • Check belt tension (look at the wiki)
  • Clean the carbon rods according to the wiki
  • Try diff. filament
  • Maybe change the nozzle (clogged?)

95% of my adhesion problems are caused by oils (fingerprints) and wet filament.

Clean the build plate, get rid of all that old glue and whatever it has collected. Warm water, grease cutting dish detergent (Dawn works well), nylon brush or clean wash rag, thorough rinse with lots of warm/hot water, dry with clean towel, handle by the edges only and don’t touch the print surface.

Dry the filament. If you don’t have a dedicated dryer, the X1C can do the job. Use the recommended time or, if you have a digital scale, weigh the spool and dry it until it stops losing weight.

Cold plate, stock settings, fresh glue, should work well.

I use Windex to clean my plate (after getting the glue off with water). Works well for me.

Appreciate the replies, i cleaned it well. Now its like the filament isnt even coming out. But if i manually force it out through printer it will. Tried new filament, same issue.

Ordering a new hot end. See if that works better.

You might have a extruder problem also I would inspect the gears if they are all clogged up with old filament and then get your new nozzle installed or even order another extruder just incase you need it now or in the future.

Extruder Clog

Well, good news. Idk exactly what helped me but. I changed new extruder, new textured plate, edited gcode to move nozzle closer to bed. And we printing flawlessly.

Thanks for advice.
