Hello, I just received the, what is called ‘Smooth PEI Plate/High Temperature Plate’. At least that is what it is called in Bambu Studio and on the Bambu Lab order site. But it just reads ‘Bambu High Temperature Plate’, no mention of ‘PEI’ on it. Is this a new design? Is it a PEI plate? I ordered it on the official Bambu Lab site. but it was shipped from New Jersey by ‘Online Seller EXPRESS’. Perhaps another BL warehouse and I am a little ‘paranoid’. Anyway, the plate doesn’t feel as ‘solid’ as the 'PLA" plate the X1C came with, it feels thinner and has a springy ‘snap’ to it. Is this normal? It could help with the part removal and the magnetic bed will straighten it out flat. So what’s up with all that? Is this all legit or did I get an old, beta test PEI plate? Anyone, please enlighten me.
Thanks.
got a photo for us? .
There is also that snap/flex movement when you bend the plate. It snaps back with a clack sound, like a click-clack toy and it has a slight warp/concavity on the hot plate side. I guess when they put the ‘film’ layer on it wasn’t on a flat surface or so. Have you seen that before? Is it normal?
Looks just like my HT plate. And yes that same one is a.k.a. smooth PEI and is actually just a sheet for the engineering plate, just like the cool plate. I use mine all the time, when I want a smooth finish. I never use glue on it but that’s just me. If I would see need for that it’d be Bambu’s liquid glue, I like that better than the sticks.
I have that on half of my plates, Bambu or 3rd party. They print perfectly fine.
I use sticks for the cool plate and mist some water on it and then it turns into some kind of liquid glue which I spread with the plastic spatuala. I just got this smooth high temp one to not have to use glue for PLA. I also have the textured PEI one on order. It’s just that the temp with these high temp plates, compared to the cool plate, goes up to 55 deg. Perhaps that helps with the part to stay in place without glue (close to the glass transition temp).
