Hello all, i am rather new on Makerworld. If this isnt the correct place to post please let me know and i will take the correct steps so i dont break any rules.
I am uploading models on Makerworld for around 50 days now and became an Exclusive uploader 2 weeks ago.
While scrolling through the settings i came across the option to sync my models to Makerworld China.
My question for those that have done it is, Is it worth it? Should i sync my models or sit on Global for the time being and wait to reach 200 Followers / 600 Prints so i can enable my commercial licence?
Also, is the only way to get payed Paypal ,or i can link my bank account somewhere? I am trying to find an option but i am either blind or i simply cant find it.
Syncing with china is not really worth it. But go ahead. You will get points now and then, but unless you log into the china site, it is hard to maintain.
The commercial license is really only useful if you have something worth selling and have a good collection built.
The commercial license only uses PayPal. Exclusive cash outs will go over bank transfer.
My personal opinion, stop trying to capitalize and just have some fun with the things you are making. A few rolls of filament here and there is nice, but you will never be fully compensated for the work put in.
You should niche into something instead of trying to follow trends by making fidget toys and vases.
I also caution against the use of AI. Its very obvious.
How can I put this without sounding rude? I’ll just share my first impression: You’re desperate to make money.
Before you fall off your chair in shock, let me explain. I understand your business model. MakerWorld and your online store, where you sell printed 3D models. It’s all aimed at one thing: money.
That’s not a bad thing - on the contrary - but people can tell when you’re trying too hard.
As I said, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to make money – quite the opposite. I’m just talking about the way you shove it in people’s faces. You can certainly do that, but then you have to back it up with premium products that live up to the price, and I don’t see that in your case.
You don’t think like a business owner. You ask yourself, ‘How can I make as much money as possible?’ As a business owner, however, you should be asking yourself, “What am I offering that customers like, and is it of an appropriate quality?”
You want to come across as a professional company and charge those kinds of prices, but you’re still a long way from that. It’s a typical beginner’s mistake - one that most people fail because of.
Like I said, I see the whole concept: your MakerWorld profile, your Patreon, and your shop page with completely overpriced 3D prints.
First, the product has to be spot on; then the money will follow - not the other way around.
Is that what you wanted to hear? I have no idea, but it’s the first thing people notice when they click on your profile… I wish you all the best for your business. However, I think you’d benefit immensely from learning from others’ experiences and not rushing headlong into beginner’s mistakes.
