New Users Frustrations

  1. So frustrating to start a print and forget that I need to manually write in print dialog specify which filament is in which slot. Incredibly annoying and has caused me more failed prints as I set it up while waiting for another print to finish, then fire it off to the printer. Every other setting gets sent over how come it does not do this within what I have setup in Studio for my filaments. Single biggest argggh factor so far. (Temp fix just make it come up as something I have to do - assign filament slots before printing)
  2. Why can’t I cut and paste a model from one project into another - I frequently combine multiple items to one prints and currently have to go open it up in a project to verify it is what I want, then save the part I want, close and go into main project locate and upload STL file - so much easier if I could just cut and paste from one to another.
  3. Align - need a way to do simple alignment of objects in relation to other objects. Group in line, vertically or horizontally, align bases, middle and tops
  4. Would like in projects on first save select name and location rather than whatever if default’s to, make this a settings toggle.
  5. When I open a new project carry over settings, filaments etc from last project (or offer basic setup), having to continuously setup filaments every time start new project is tedious.
  6. I find myself spending a lot of time customizing settings for a print, would be nice to have a master settings option to toggle on and off what I want so each new project reflects what I want to start with not the system defaults.
  7. Under device need ability to see same info as generated in preview. Filament use, time breakdowns etc. that was generated before print sent. Should just be copied from preview.
  8. If I have set up a project in Studio, should be able to see it and send it via Handy App.
  9. Need option to sync by slot - software is stupid and if I sync AMS and have Bambu Filaments in slots 1 and 4, and 2 non Bambu filaments in between it shows Bambu in slots 1,2 instead of 1 and 4? Weird.

I am sure will have more in the future and their may already be ways to do what I have suggested but if so was not intuitive to new user. Took me a week to figure out I could color a merged group, and that I could shift drag to multi select so I am sure I have missed functionality on how to do things. Like overall simplicity but really like ability to drill down into settings if needed.

Save your settings as a System Preset.

For #1, I tend to keep the same color in the same slots for my AMS and AMS Lites. For example, slot #1 is always White, slot #2 is always Black. The remaining 2 slots are reserved only for Bambu filament with the RFID tags, that way it’s always up to date.

Now, if I can just remember to resync when starting a new project

Some very good points.
#1 and #9, I don’t quite understand. Whenever I change filament in an AMS, I configure the filament type and color exactly once on the printer. I could also do it in BambuStudio in the device tab. From then on, It knows that e.g. red PLA is in AMS 2, slot 3.
When I assign any red PLA to a part in the prepare tab, it automatically selects AMS 2, slot 3 in the print dialog. Is that different for you?

It took me a while to wrap my head around the “Project Filaments” dialog. At first I hated that the numbers did not align with the ams slots, but I then finally saw it as simple a pallet of colors and filaments that generally has nothing to do with what’s in the ams. when you slice and go to print it will find the filaments and colors that are in the ams, map them appropriately, and warn you if they aren’t matching what you intended to print. now that i see it for what it is i really like it.

and if you really want them to match you can always sync from the printer and you’ll only get the colors that are actually in the ams slots.
