New ways to log in to this Forum?

Just saw this last night after not using the forum for a short while. So there are two more ways to log into the forum now? One is to set up an account specifically for the forum, the other is to use a Passkey?

The old way seems to be the Bambu Account on the top right part of the log in screen.

A passkey is saved in your browser , i found i had an issue on a different site when it ask you to confirm it is you (security check), so you may need to double check all the methods of identity match up ( phone #`s (amazon) i ended up deleting the passkey so i could login and im assuming that like me you tried to use your bambu/makerworld login in the email and password boxes then used the bambu account login

I got the error message of “incorrect username, email or password” when trying to use my Bambu account to log in on the left side of the log in screen. Then I used the Bambu Account on the right to log in successfully using the existing Bambu account credential.

It looks like now one can set up an account specifically for the forum that is separate from the Bambu account. But I don’t see any announcement about this. That’s the main question.

I am not sure I will use the passkey. In general I don’t like the idea of storing login info on the browser.

Same kind of query myself , is bambu /@Makerworld seperating themselves from the forum or just offering more ways to alias/psuedonym accounts for here

I think it makes sense to not require the forum to share the main Bambu account.

This forum is very tolerant of bad behaviors. Some users would have been suspended or banned if they act the same on other venues such as the Bambu Discord or FB site. One of the reasons for this hesitation to enforce community rules could be that the forum shares the same Bambu account.

Its an interesting thought and id assume it would depend on how enforcement of that kind is carried out (username / ip / region) , when you consider that bambu accounts can be just deleted , (sold/sale) and repeated , id expect it to be more a way of protecting other users from malicious actions/reports,especially from certain individuals that appear to frequent the sites , if that makes sense

Yes, people can set up multiple Bambu accounts and some even openly admitted they don’t have a Bambu printer and not planning to get one but they come here to post their opinions anyway. So requiring that the forum shares the same Bambu account hasn’t stopped these activities.

However, I think officially requiring the same account for the forum makes it hard to justify suspending or banning anyone, or at least make it more complex to implement the suspending or banning.

I guess the complexity would lie in enforcement because of the way i assume bambu accounts are linked to the same amazon server ? makerworld / forum and the cloud. i have also noticed that one form of identification has been or appears to of been removed.
