New X1-Carbon different part fan behavior?

So I have a new X1C, it’s about a month old. I also have one from last year, about ten months old.

When I sit close to the printers the newest sounds different, I print mainly ABS and the new one sounds like a laptop that is working hard. The fan is almost constantly speeding up.
Right now I am printing the same file on both machines, the older one which I don’t hear is constantly on 50 or 60% part fan speed, the newer one is constantly on 70% and peaking at 90%.

So is there a difference in fans and firmware related settings? The slice file is the same but the fan behavior is different.

The first question is what firmware version are each unit running?

Both have firmware version 01.07.02.00

Another simultaneous print, the older X1C is a 80% fan speed, the newer at 90%. This print is more stable, I don’t really hear speed differences. So the older printer may have a higher airflow for the part fan?

That could make sense if they were on different fw versions. Since they aren’t, they should behave the same (except for things like different fans possibly being more or less noisy at same rpm).

Generally speaking, things that could explain different fan speeds are overhang angles and filament profiles. Are they printing the same thing and “in sync”?

Yes, I print the same files at the same time - I start them immediately after eachother and the machines sound about the same and finish at the same time. Only the fans sound different and have other speeds.

EDIT - Removed a BETA discussion. If you ARE using Beta studio hopefully your better than me and post in the correct space.

The fans are hardly precision made devices. They’re going to have variation in imbalance and blade shape. Some will be noisier than others. That would have been my first assumption. You can manually run the fans up/down from the device control panel in the slicer. Turn them on and compare side-by-side while nothing else is making noise at the same time…

I can’t view that link. I checked the part fan (I could have started with that ) and the ‘‘old’’ printer has 24V 0.15A, the newest X1C has a 24V 0.22A fan (Snowfan).

I can’t see the page either. Says it’s private. Why have private discussions on a public forum?

This is a link to a thread in the X1C beta firmware forum which is only available to people in the beta program. The link should not be posted outside of the beta forum and the individual risks being ejected from the beta testing group.

Not again, argghh… I cant delete others repost links but will fix mine.
I will stop cross posting I guess for anything, guess not careful enough when I read stuff and remember its in seperate forums.

Yeah sorry. I was trying to help and …well stuffed up.

Its simply because its “testing” stuff, and not necessiarly land in general area or affect general public posts.
Its my fault I cross-posted without being more careful as I saw the ABS issue and the fan issue was similarly posted elsewhere.

Also - in my testing OP firmware, VV 01.07.02.00 - isnt avaialble to me, only V01.07.02.17 BETA in the handy app, so that was a honest versioning mistake on my part, assumed we were talking about the BETA version and didnt realise I was in General discussions, not BETA discussions. Twice BETA bitten now, will lay offf posting a bit I think lol.

To your defence, the bug you referred to is in Bambu Studio which is in open beta. Sir Will could/should have posted that workaround in an open section of the forum.
