New X1C: Incorrect bed temperature readings

Hello friends,

I’ve just received my new X1C, unpacked and completed the initial calibration.

Then I tried to print one of the samples but printing got stuck at “preheating bed” phase. I noticed that the bed is waiting to cool down from temperatures like 90-100-110C, while it’s obviously room temperature (~25C).

I guess the temperature sensor readings are incorrect. When I turn the printer on the bed temperature starts from ~90 and it slowly raises up to 100 and above. And I can’t say it’s “random” – no, it starts from somewhere (85-90C) and then slowly goes up to 100, sometimes 110C.

I could hardly find any similar topics, but the threads that I’ve found mention signal cable or even full bed replacements. However when I contacted the Support (with logs uploaded) they offered me a new MC board.

Have anyone ever had an issue like mine? Does MC board replacement make sense?

How about opening a support ticket and get some of that beautifull warranty? This is not an Ender3 remember?

I’ll be more precise for future reference.

Printer arrived defective. Bed temp reads 99-107 degrees, even when cold. Tried restarting printer, different firmware, factory reset etc.

Printer being returned under their 14 day policy, under defective on arrival.

This is by far the best option.

On a new out of the box printer? No, do not fix it, just return it for replacement. You can even get advance replacement where they will send you the new one without waiting for the old one back. I know it is a major disappointment and some people think “well if I just fix this one thing” it will be great, but often it turns out not to be just one thing.

Yepp! I’m not touching a brand new, under 1 hour usage printer…

Hello!
I have some problem!

I have same problem with the printer. Its shows a temperature of 100 degrees celsius but it does not heat up at all.

Thank you guys for your replies. @krellboy @Chris1974 @RonanB I think you’re right about returning the printer and asking for a replacement since it’s expected to just work out of the box.

I did not think carefully about it, and I agreed to receive a replacement MC board before reading your replies. But I guess it’s still not too late to step back and request the replacement of the whole printer.

Still thinking if actually trying replacing the board and seeing if that makes any change helps the community to deal with similar issues in future. MC board replacement does not seem to be too difficult – just the back cover and a hair dryer to melt the glue.

this is not an Ender3

@Chris1974 the fun fact is that I’ve had too much pain with my Ender 3v3 SE, and I just wanted something that “works most of the time” but at least my Ender worked out of the box until I started “upgrading” it.

Yes I can understand your dissapointment. I really do. But it is still a machine and it can fail. You just got unlucky unfortunately. The X1C is a great machine I promis you! I have 2 that work flawlessly out of the box. Let BBL replace the faulty one and you will soon understand why people are so fond of this printer!

I have the same issue, did this resolve the problem or should I request for a new one as they have also offered to give me a replacement MC board

Hello @EthanF, they sent me the MC board, and I actually tried to install it.

However I failed at removing the back panel. I unscrewed it but it still holds at the belt tentioners. The metal of the back panel is so thin, it bends easily, and I was not confident at applying any extra force.

So I gave up and requested the replacement of the whole printer. The support offered two options: “normal” (you ship your item back and then they send you a new one) and “advanced” (you basically pay for another printer, and they send another one immediately, while the faulty one is on the way to them). I chose the “normal” way, waiting for further instructions from the support.

Hope that helps.

Glad i found this post. Received mine today and having a similar problem. The bed temps never read below 70c or so - even when it’s cold. It will heat up when manually set higher than this though.

I’ve opened a support ticket and imagine it will go down the same way as yours has. Have you heard back from them about the return, or have you received your new printer already?

Hey @jipflip, I submitted a ticket and they replied. Please check my last message in this thread for more details. Long story short they offered two options for the replacement. They organized the collection but sadly on the very date of the collection something happened and my collection got cancelled. By far I’ve received lots of other parcels by this courier service (Evri), and never had any issues. IDK what happened to my collection, I’m currently in the process of restarting it.

Just for the record I’m based in London UK. I’m wondering if all people from this thread are victims of an unlucky batch from the same local supplier.
