Hi all
I’ve been told hips is the answer !
Any recommendations also settings ? . I currently only use Bambu filament as I like the rfid tag saving me from user error !
Wish Bambu had their own hips / abs support filament .
Cheers

Hey!
Bambu does have ABS support filament. However, after trying it, it does not break away as they advertise. Lots of it is still stuck to the part. I am going to be looking at polypropylene as a candidate for support interface and evaluate its behavior. Due to its molecular makeup, it should bond as good as PLA bonds to PETG, which is really poor, thus making a great interface.
I have the ABS support but haven’t had need yet. I have no issues with ABS and supports.
The ABS Support is limonene-dissolvable, I don’t know if that’s needed for a simple overhang as the example BL gives is complex. I do know you have to dry it really well before use.
Like I said, I haven’t had need for it yet. ABS-GF seperates easily and I haven’t had anything meld with ABS.
@johnfcooley Do you have any info on drying the ABS support. BL website says drying is optional. I’m having some issues with printing the ABS support and am wondering if that is my issue.
I haven’t used mine. I will say you should dry it. I’d dry at 60 to begin with, although it prints at near the temp ABS does so it should dry at 60-70. I’d go min of 8 hrs if a new roll. I just haven’t had need for support on ABS and all mine pop right off, and I haven’t done any complicated parts that need support up in them, or hard to reach.
Is the support just not printing properly or what? I’ve found PVA to cause enough headaches in and of itself, can’t imagine it’s worse.
After doing some tests prints I found that the ABS support does not extrude properly using .08mm layer height. With a layer height of .2mm it works as expected.
