No Internet, No contact with the router

I currently have the problem that I can’t access the internet. The printer always says “Couldn’t connect to router”.
If I want to set up the network manually, i.e. the SID and the password, the same thing happens.
Factory reset wasn’t successful either. Then I took the printer to a friend’s house to test it out. Same problem there too.
The WiFi antenna looks ok

On most connected devices, as you likely know, you can manually enter connectivity parameters. The bottom line is that Bambu simply won’t support this. This has been a point of controversy, with Bambu consistently stonewalling users on this request since their printers were introduced. The bottom line is that your SSID must be visible to the printer, and it must connect to 2.4 GHz only—5 GHz won’t work.

If your printer can’t see your router’s SSID, go into your router’s menu and ensure the SSID is being broadcast. While it’s not the best for security, sometimes you have to broadcast it to force a connection and verify that your printer’s Wi-Fi is functioning.

Next, in your router’s menu, make sure the SSID is tied to the 2.4 GHz band, since the printer only supports 2.4 GHz. The issue is that many routers merge 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz into one SSID, and 5 GHz often takes priority. The workaround is to temporarily disable 5 GHz through your router’s menu and try again. If your router doesn’t allow separate SSIDs or disabling 5 GHz, unfortunately, you’re out of luck.

A possible “hack”

If you can’t force your router to connect at 2.4 GHz, here’s a hack you can try. Since 5 GHz has a shorter range, you can move the router or printer further apart to force a 2.4 GHz connection. Yeah, it sounds janky, but with some trial and error, it can work. Another option is to build a temporary aluminum foil shield around the router until you see the signal strength drop.

If you’re on Android, there are plenty of free Wi-Fi signal analyzers that let you monitor signal strength graphically. On iPhone? Good luck—there’s really nothing like that for iOS that I’ve ever found that worked and was free although there might be paid tools that do this.

I’ve had the printer for almost 2 years now and haven’t had any network problems.
Until this morning…
Suddenly there was no more contact with the router.
The SSID is not hidden. The network is divided into 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
I also took the printer to my friend’s house and tried to connect it there. He also had the same problem… no network.
I don’t know what else to try. Everything was fine for 2 years and I didn’t change anything.
All other devices and printers in the room do not have the problem and are also connected to the 2.4 GHz network.
Could the WLAN module be defective??

Given the other troubleshooting that you’ve already performed, you’ve checked all the boxes. Are you seeing “any” SSID’s at all? It doesn’t sound like you are if you brought it to a friends house. As an alternative, one quick test is to turn on your phone’s hotspot to see if your printer can see the phone broadcasting WIFI.

If none of that works, then the next thing to do is to look at the display panel and see if you have any bars of signal strength at all. If you don’t then the next step is to verify that the antenna connector did not somehow vibrate loose although that would be truly unusual.

Check out Bambu’s wiki on the X1 antenna replacement. It will show you where the connector is for you to check.

First of all, thank you very much for your help and tips.
I can see the SSID from all devices. There are no bars visible on the printer display.
I looked at the antenna, especially the connector. But it is still solid and glued. It’s just a wire with a small plug

Then it looks like you’ve done an exhaustive set of tests. Unless someone sees something I missed, this points to a defective AP board. I could not find the part number on the Bambu Site and there may be revision issues to be considered. So if you haven’t already done so check with support. Who knows, they may offer you a complimentary board.

What you might try is to simply reseat the WIFI antenna connector. Here’s the wiki on how to replace the AP board which should help you find where the connector is. If you haven’t done this before, I recommend a sturdy set of tweezers and grab the connector from the sides, not by the wire. The connector is sturdy but its weakness is in the part where the wire crimps into the connector so be careful.

Aside form the link I posted above for the antenna, here is a detailed link for the AP board that may make it easier to access the antenna.

Good luck🍀and let us know what Bambu Support tells you and what your final outcome is.

I think if it were the AP board he’d see more errors. At least I did on the P1 series, but it could be different on the X1.

Like Olias said, I’d try replaceing the antenna. Cheap anyways and at worst it could rule it out.

Many thanks to you. I’m going to start a ticket with Bambu and hope they help me.
First I’ll change the antenna.

If that doesn’t help, I’ll probably need a new AP board.
I can only buy this directly from Bambu. It is not available as a spare part in the shop.

Same thing here - it first started about six months ago then all’s been well until today.
The printer does not even see the router but it sees around 8 other SSID’s that are my neighbours.
Running a connection check from the printer’s screen results in a long pause before the failure notice comes up in a red font. Restarting the printer will sometimes give what looks like a connection to the correct SSID but trying a print brings the error back, similarly running the printer’s test brings the error back. Leave the printer alone and after around 15 - 20 minutes it appears to resolve itself, again with the correc SSID - until you try it and the error arrives on screen.
My 500meg fibre line is working as expected and everything connected to it runs great. The SSID is there for all to see.
Get this, in both cases I was unable to login to bambu’s wiki - it rejects my correct password but attempts to follow the prompt to reset the password ends in nothing. no email to my registered address is received.
I guess the only option is what worked last time ‘lan only’ mode.
ironically the Bambu Lab website status report proudly declares that all is well, no issues reported - for weeks - it’s been perfect? what’s telling on that page is that there’s no hyperlink to Bambu home or anywhere else - so no quick way of reporting an issue.

You wouldn’t by chance be running an EERO or mesh router would you? I ask because I’ve found strong evidence that Bambu Lab’s TCP/IP stack lacks software maturity and have compatibility problems with this technology. To put it simply, that term refers to the discipline and reliability behind software development. Bambu has stated up front that they lack this ability since they are largely robotics engineers and it shows.

Bambu’s deliberate opacity actively hinders users from troubleshooting their own devices. By blocking access to log files and prohibiting manual TCP/IP configurations—basic functions that every other network-connected device allows—Bambu forces users into a broken support system. Instead of providing meaningful diagnostics, their tech support resorts to the same ineffective script: “Send us your logs,” followed by a useless trial-and-error process. In reality, the community here offers far superior troubleshooting than Bambu’s own incompetent support team.

This refusal to grant users fundamental control over their own hardware isn’t just negligence—it’s corporate arrogance. If Bambu were more transparent, they could tap into an army of knowledgeable volunteers willing to help at no cost. But that would mean admitting a flaw, and their corporate ego has made it clear that’s not how they operate.

thanks for your reply Olias - much appreciated! It seems that I’m clearly beyond my ability level here. After yesterdays failure I expected lan only mode to get me back to printing…not this time.
My router, all I can say is that it was supplied by SKY, it can see the X1C and, unlike yesterday, the X1C appears to see and connect to the router but once I click the printer’s on-board test facility there’s a pause of several minutes before it reports a failure.
Today I tried lan only, using IP and access code, same thing! long pause and then failure notice!
What’s really confusing me is that I can’t login to Bambu’s wiki, that reports my username/email or password being incorrect! I know differently.
So, I took the option of clicking on the ‘forgot your password?’ link. Keyed in my only email address but no email arrived.
I checked out the (UK) store and login there was flawless.
So, my situation is that the X1C won’t operate in either mode even though it can see my router and at least 8 neighbours wifi networks.

It sounds like you are having issues between your systems, ISP and Bambu. This leaves two quick troubleshooting steps to see if you can connect another way.

  1. Try another computer and verify that you’re Bambu credentials, Store, Forum etc. logins work. The wiki, Bambulab.com, store.bambulab.com and forum.bambulab.com all use the same credentials. When using your web browser, it’s a good idea to clear your cookies first. If you’re using a virgin computer that’s never connected to Bambu, then your cookies should be blank anyway.
  • If you can log in from another computer, then it’s your current computer that likely has corrupted cookies or is simply not correctly connected to your LAN. The same could be true for the printer.
  1. Another alternative is to use your cellphones wifi hotspot ability and connect your computer and printer to that WiFi network. What this will do is eliminate your ISP and if you get through, then you should contact your ISP and explain to them that your internet connections is interfering with your online service and proof is that you’re able to connect via another ISP(your cell phone provider). They will know what to do.

The last thing you might try is to turn off the printer altogether. Then reset your router. If you don’t know how to do that, enlist the support of your ISP. After you’ve connected to the Internet again, test out your Bambu credentials by logging into the store, the wiki and of course this forum. After that, power up your printer and connect it again to the network.

Thanks once again for your time and expertise, this time I’m replying using my cellphone and interestingly when I got to the end of your advice there was a notification that correctly pointed out that I hadn’t signed in (I just clicked the reply link in the email that my phone received) it suggested I sign up for an account.
instead I signed in with my info and password, received an email with confirmation code and here I am.
before leaving the house I tried bambu handy which connected to the printer after I scanned the qr code.
this allowed me to send a print from my pc.
I thought that was all fixed. The short test print finished perfectly and then the X1C went faulty again :rage:
I’ll start the process you so kindly sent to me as soon as I get home.
Again, many thanks! :+1:
