No SD card detected

Hi, I’ve received my printer today. I’ve tried three different micro SD card from 8GB to 32GB with different brand. None of them works in my printer. They work perfectly on other printers and PC. The printer says “No SD card detected”. I’ve inspected the touch panel cable. The touchpanel itself works ok but it seems the cable has bended badly when mounted inside the printer frame. Any idea about this issue? I really hate having this printer connected at the could in order to work.

Make sure it is formatted with FAT32 only and not exFAT! Windows 11 or 10 does not do that, you will need to download a third-party app that can format to FAT32.

Thanks for the suggestion but Windows 11 support formatting drive using FAT32 at least fot card up to 32GB. Since I have a linux workstation at hand I also tried it. No change. Has I said, I can’t format the micro SD card also using the format utility in the Bambulab printer.

My colleague had this problem with his. Display and Touch both working, but no SD cards recognised. He solved it by unplugging the cable from the back of the screen and plugging it back in again - it just wasn’t seated correctly. Maybe try that, otherwise it could be that the cable that’s bent is actually broken on one of the conductors. If thats the case, it will need to be replaced.

I also couldn’t format the card on my Bambu until I formatted to FAT32, my card had an exFAT format which the printer does not recognize.

Have you tried formating to FAT32 and not the exFAT format? I am using a 128GB with no problem now. But I had the same issue.

Thanks a lot Equalizor and GameRickster for the suggestions above. I’ve already deattacched the screen once when I saw the ribbon cable bent. I did it again and tried also to “massage” the ribbon cable in order to straight it a little bit and press with more force on the connector. Now all my SD card works. I will test if the vibrations will have an impact.

Thank you, i had the same issue (no SD card detected, or formatting forever).
The ribbon cable was bent downward, “massage” + bending upward resolved the SD card problem.

You re welcome. Few weeks later the problem arise again but hopefully I had a replacement ready at hand. Please consider to buy a new one if you order from bambulab.

Did you change the display connector flex cable or the whole screen ?

Just the cable in my case, otherwise would be quite expensive.

I had this issue on my P1S after using it’s SD card for something else. After trying to format it back to FAT32 with the disk utility tool on my mac it didn’t work. The SD card was readable on my mac and showed the correct formatting, but was invisible (Not found) to my P1S.

My workaround was to use a “working” SD card from another P1S and create a backup with ApplePi-Baker v2 (https://www.tweaking4all.com/software/macosx-software/applepi-baker-v2/) and then restoring that to the not working one. Afterwards it worked perfectly again.

Not to revive an older post, but are there any other solutions to this issue? I have a 2Gb Samsung Micro SD, formatted to FAT32 on my PC. My PC reads it fine, but the Printer does not see it at all. I’ve tried reseating the cable several times, powering the printer on and off, removing and inserting the SD several times, all to no avail. Could me screen be bad?

2GB? Does this still exist? If it is really 2GB it must be from last century with a very LOW speed. This should not prevent it from being recognized though but Bambu recommends class10 or higher which for sure your 2GB card does not eventhough I don’t think class 10 is really required. If I were you, I would try a newer SD card with a higher capacity. Use 32GB so that it’s easily FAT32 formatted in Windows and try again.
