Nothing but Issues since new firmware

True, but hardware variation means that firmware changes do not always do exactly the same thing on each machine.
The firmware change is the most likely cause of people’s issues, and there are certainly too many people reporting problems right after this update (numerous on Discord, Reddit, and Facebook too) for me to consider it simply a coincidence.

We had this before with the lowering of the Z-motor current which on some machines was fine, and on some machines would cause the motor to lose steps when moving the bed.

The corners on this print is just one example of the poor quality. Again, it happened overnight, it was not a gradual reduction in quality. It stopped immediately when I did my own flow and pressure calibrations in SoftFever.

After communicating with support which has been helpful and after following and doing all the tests asked, like cleaning the bed, glue and sending videos and logs which I guess helped them conclude that it wasn’t user fault, they replied today that they are trying to prepare a firmware patch to fix the people affected like us. Let’s hope it comes soon and it solves everything.

Nice. Did they give any indication of a new firmware update or that there would be the ability to roll it back?

They just mentioned the firmware patch, which I suppose is targeted to a bug or problem they have found through the logs sent by everyone. Nothing regarding a rollback. They probably prefer to move forward than backwards

I’ve got the same issues.

Have you had any updates

Not since them thinking its my cool plate

I switched over to my cool plate with a fresh decal this weekend and it’s printing fine

So that rules out the build plate in my opinion

2 things I’ve done as more of a preventative measure and for better flow is increased my flow rate on non Bambu PLA from 0.98 to 1.0 and incresed my printing temp to 230 from 220

As for what you and others are experiencing I’m positive that there’s something off in the nozzle hight

I may have missed it in this thread but what is your first layer hight and width and your every other layer hight and width ?

My line width for PLA is set to .45 , first layer .24 every other layer .2

With my .16 settings first layer hight is .2 and I keep my line width at .45 flow 1.0

Not saying that is your issue or a fix but for my X1C which is running well that’s where I set my PLA at and the prints come out crisp

I’ve got same issues on the textured plate, it’s not related to the plate.

If I was experiencing the issues you and many others by the sounds of it are having to rule in or out the nozzle hight here’s how I would proceed

Start a print, after the prime layer in the back is laid down and the print head moves to the orientation to actually start the print I would turn off the switch in the back

With the printer off carefully move the print head away from the layer line it put down

Next turn the printer back on and hopefully you can close the prompt for print recovery without the bed or print head moving

If the above mentioned is doable then heat the bed to the correct buildplate temp and the nozzle to 220

At that point you should be able to check if the Z hight is correct

I’m not sure if this process is something you can try but if it is then it will rule out the Z hight being an issue

I guess it could be checked cold as well but filament on the nozzle, a cold build plate and cold nozzle would not be as accurate

Just throwing ideas out there and hoping something sticks for you guys

This 100%. I had a print that was 199mm so I cleared the plate and hit re-print. The bed then lowered itself into the floor and just began grinding away. Never was an issue before but after the firmware update, my under 50 print hr printer has noticeable marks and z axis marks.

The response I got back from Bambu Lab staff was seriously disheartening. I went into detail, provided 2 video clips, the file I printed, the export logs, and images from the forum showing I am not alone/similar issues. What I got back was just saying its a firmware issue that will be fixed in a future firmware update and to raise the bed 10-20mm before homing the printer to “avoid homing the printer too much.” Not sure why this is an issue (If you know please feel free to let me know) but did not answer anything else. They didnt answer if the damage is covered under warranty or otherwise. A lot of answers left in the dark.

Well you got better than me.lol i got told replace the cold plate sticker and wash with soapy water !

In response to the firmware/bed issue? What on earth did they read/you tell them lol

I just wanted to chime in and say that I have been having similar issues. I didn’t put it together that it could be related to the new firmware update until I read this post.

Basically for the past week I have been having first layer adhesion problems, so much so that the calibration and the purge lines do not work and I have not had a successful print in that time after hundreds of successful prints since I got the X1C at the beginning of January.

I suspected it might be my filament being wet, so I dried several spools of filament out just in case in the oven for the day. While I was waiting for them to dry, I opened multiple new packs of Bambu and Polymaker filament to try out but had the same issue. The recently dried filament still didn’t work.

While also trying new and dried filaments, I was switching between the textured plate and the cold plate (with glue). I also had a new cold plate that hasn’t been used before, but they all have the same issue. I’ve washed all the plates with warm water and soap and tried them again as well.

I tried the softfever fork and the calibrations available on it, but they require the first layer to stick which is still failing.

If anyone else has any other suggestions other than wait for a firmware update to see if that helps please let me know.
