Nozzle size change from Bambu Studio

got the same problem here with the A1 mini with the latest Bambu Studio update 2.1.1.52
Thanks to you for helping with the screenshots for the workaround via the printer menu ! this is at the moment the only solution, changing via mobile app is also no longer possible.
created also a ticket :-/

Let us know what they say about the issue.

thank you thank you thank you … I’ve been stuck for a few days, you saved my life!! I don’t understand why the bambustudio update has removed the function of not being able to change the diameter of the printer :frowning:

I’m shocked that nobody knows how to change the nozzle size from the printer. Or even knew it was possible. Maybe it’s because I come from an old printer and that’s how you always had to do it in the past

I knew it from my prusa mk3. But got from the beginning used to the much easier handling via the slicer. With the greyed out option i was searching for a mistake at my side or with the slicer…

@redSwiss: Guezi, hier das Feedback vom Support:
Here is the reply from support:
ā€œWe sincerely recommend that you select models with presets in Handy, or upload your own presets on the MakerWorld websiteā€
So they take it as a wanted feature that you cannot change the nozzle size anymore in the slizer directly.
I will reopen my ticket and try to push them re-implementig this feature again. Maybe others having opened tickets are foing the same

It sounds like they misunderstand the problem.

Jep, in my following conversation i eplained them the issue.
In the end i got the following feedback:

ā€œWe highly value user opinions and will carefully consider your suggestions.
We will relay your feedback to the relevant team for further improvement of our product and service.ā€
So i would say, the more people want this option back in the slicer the higher the chance for it. Though i do not know why they even removed it

I happened to visit the Wiki today. The ability to change the nozzle setting from Studio was intentionally removed, so I doubt it will be restored. It can still be done from OrcaSlicer.

Bambu Studio Software Settings Notice

In the latest version of Bambu Studio (Bambu_Studio_win_public-v02.01.01.52-20250616155614), the option to modify nozzle information under the ā€œPrinter Partsā€ section has been disabled and is now for display purposes only.

Some users may mistakenly consider this a software or hardware issue due to changes from previous versions. However, this adjustment is intended to enhance operational consistency and user safety. Nozzle changes must be performed directly on the printer. Allowing modifications via the software interface could mislead new users into thinking that a physical nozzle replacement is unnecessary before printing.

Thanks for posting that.

Well, fiddlesticks… that is annoying… I mean, sure, yes, you need to physically change the nozzle on the printer, so while you are at it, you can change the setting at the printer… but that means a change to my existing workflow, and until I remember that this has changed, I need to go back to the printer when I forget to do it on the printer itself… :exploding_head:

Bambu… what were you thinking! If you thought it was misleading… just put a confirmation prompt in when changing it… duh! That I can easily live with… especially if you put an ā€œadvancedā€ setting in to skip certain prompts like this and let me suffer the consequences for my folly.

i.e. ā€œPlease note: you still need to change the nozzle physically on the printer if you have not done so already! Do you still wish to continue with this change to the printer nozzle settings? [Yes] [No]ā€

I am using older FW and BS version but if I change the nozzle info at the printer it is reflected in Printer Parts, I do not need to change it there.

Exactly. That was always the case… if you change it in the printer settings, it will be reflected in the software. The change here is that you could also change it in the software (and it would be reflected on the printer)… Bambu appear to have deliberately removed that latter ability for everyone due to a few users who are instead in need of education of how to operate a printer/slicer properly.

I was able to change the nozzle and nozzle size on my P1S all thanks to a very smart person at MicroSwiss. I purchased a hot end and .6 nozzle and installed and I was getting the greyed out box etc. and nothing worked. Then he told me to go to the printer and scroll down the left side of screen to the 3rd line looks like a circle sort of. Go right and scroll to accessories and then find nozzle. Whe I got to nozzle there were few choices but I was able to choose a 0.6 hardened nozzle from the choices. I then went back and tried and failed. Turned off the printer and turned back on. Also relaunched studio, imported and sliced and sent and it is now printing. I also had to choose correct printer and nozzle size in studio but at least it is working. Thank you a whole bunch, Microswiss!

This is the right way to handle this issue.

Thanks for this. For anyone else on a P1P with the really basic interface:

go to the ā€˜circle’ icon
navigate to ā€˜accessories’
then nozzle to update

It is the same on the P1S. BL changed the configuration to force to user to do that at the printer because apparently some folks were changing the configuration in Studio without physically changing the nozzle hardware.
