Since a few days the prints don’t come out well. The initial layer is disturbed and the nozzle seems to “fly” too narrow to the build plate. The result is a non sticking first layer which seems to be disturbed by the low flying nozzle which scratches off the filament on the plate.
The nozzle is brand new but it happened as well with the previous standard nozzle. I homed the printer, even reset to to its delivery state but the failure seems to be consistent. I read in another thread that the holder of the nozzle in the print head may have loosened screws and I retightened them. All to no avail. Strange there is a clicking noise when the first layer is applied as the nozzle scratches the surface of the plate and this causes additional load to the x or y drives. I tried to add a video but the system doesn’t allow for this?
Ran out of ideas on what I could do. Any advice would be appreciated.

Agree, sounds like your first layer is too squished, insufficient Z clearance
Extruder clicking and backdriving is because not enough filament is able to exit the nozzle as is being prescribed by the extruder. something something incompressible liquid something something
Check for anything that can foul the autolevel – re-seat the nozzle, check for debris underneath the build plate, clean and regrease Z threaded rod, do a machine recalibration from the menu. I’d add check those screws behind the nozzle but you did that already. Changing in a new nozzle is an option to try too.

my heating plate does have some few remnants of filament melted into the surface. but these are few and aren’t palpable neither directly nor if the build plate is mounted.
i had some strange experience with one build plate: the filament was printed very thinly as a result of the nozzle ditching onto the plate. But it’s virtually impossible to remove the remnants again as these stick to the plate.
I tried to raise the nozzle manually via the menue in small steps but this does not have an effect on the operation. so i’m not sure I really understand what i’m doing.
If the nozzle is at room temperature and you wiggle it with your fingers, does it feel firmly held in place?

You made my day! Exactly the same problem after some 850 hrs of use. Painstaking exercise to get to this understanding. Looks ok now but took me nearly 4 days. Thanks so much!!
