Today upon uploading I found out that NSFW/Adult tag is missing from the usual Upload interface. And that caused me to dig deeper into MW community guidelines, and now I am confused even more.
it seems that NSFW setting (for sensitive/adult content) is now missing from new uploads;
upon digging MW Community Guidelines, it seems that any form of sensitive content is now prohibited, including non-sexual tasteful ■■■■■■:
So, am I correct in assumption, that now NSFW creative content like tasteful ■■■■■■ sculpture (think, for example, David from Michelangelo) uploads are pretty much banned from MW?
You weren’t even allowed to publish the e-word here lol (I assume it started with e). While their decisions are likely in good faith, things like this never end up good. Like your art example.
On a motorcycle forum I couldn’t mention ■■■, a roller bearing manufacturer. Let’s see if it works here. Another example I heard of was some forum where women were blocked from discussing breast cancer. Unintentional of course but that is what inevitably happens. Not to mention that guy called ■■■■. His entire name is banned, poor guy.
Interesting. I just checked on one of the models I uploaded, It’s an Azur Lane shipgirl, so could be a little provocative, suggestive and a little $exy, but certainly not the e word. Yet it was automatically put as NSFW. Good thing is it is still there, labelled up as NSFW, so has not been taken down. I get you have to try and stop exploytation and sexualisation of minors etc. and fully support that. But it is sometimes so stupid, and so strict, people don’t bother with even the simplest creation that has a mere hint of suggestive/skimpy clothing for fear of it not been accepted.
I had over £50 credit in a CivitAi account, I used whilst working in Brazil, but upon returning to the UK discovered that CivitAI was no longer available due to Government online restrictions applied to them. They simply don’t bother anymore. I could use VPN’s but then you feel you have something to hide by using them.
Best way to do this is probably have an age restriction section on MakerWorld, where to gain access you have to provide proof of age and identity, a real ball ache yes, but better than a blanket ban.
How would MW from now on treat adult toys? How can I ensure that model I publish is marked as NSFW immediately? Or should I rather not try to submit such models?
No, it’s not banned; you have to make a distinction:
“General Guidelines” refers to human behavior and laws, so it covers things like actual real nsfw photos, etc. - what you quoted in your comment
“Model Guidelines” refers to 3D models. The rule still applies: “When uploading adult content, please ensure that you turned on the NSFW (Not Safe for Work) option.” - Why isn’t that showing up? Probably because they’re tinkering with the UI again.
It is important to distinguish between content relating to human behaviour - that is, real people, real photos, … - and content relating to the uploading of 3D models. Uploading real pornographic photos has always been prohibited.
So you can upload as many adult toys as you want, but you’re not allowed to post photos of real body parts. However, yes the rules are often quite confusing…
Well, the funny thing is - that’s N-word. I.e. what you get when you take your clothes off :p. I don’t know how the word nu di ty became something to censor.
Well, my guess was that this topic could be interesting for lot more creators than just myself. So, isn’t this place an official curated place to discuss those things with both creators and Bambu reps?
That’s, actually, a very good answer, and I hope that’s true. I.e. that I could continue to upload sculptures that have some degree of clothing items missing, when Bambu will fix their stuff.
If that’s just a MW bug, not a new shadow policy thing.
Still, NSFW content tick is missing. Maybe that’s just for my account, I have no means to check it for others. At least it’s missing in different browsers, and in both new uploads or edit old ones (yes, including NSFW ones).
I’m not seeing the option either right now; I just tried it. Since I’ve uploaded NSFW content in the past, I know it works with my account. I suspect it’s either a bug or they’re tweaking the code. They’re currently implementing spam protection on MakerWorld and here on the forum. I think there’s still some work to be done.
Maybe the flag will be converted into a tag in the future, but that’s just a theory. The whole system has never really worked properly anyway. I’ve already received warnings telling me to label my NSFW content, even though I’ve been doing that for months. So false alarm.
I even started a thread, but for some reason MakerWorld isn’t showing any interest to fix this… or they fixed it at some point, but never mentioned it. The whole NSFW flag is completely broken - it always has been.
It also solves the issue mentioned in the discussion above of not marking up content as NSWF and false NSFW reports of content already marked as NSFW. As now you simply can’t manually mark content as NSFW. It’s all up to AI gods now.
P.S. And yes, this behavior contradicts current Model Guidelines :
as it still clearly states in p.6:
6. Label NSFW content
When uploading adult content, please ensure that you turned on the NSFW (Not Safe for Work) option.
And we can’t do this, as manual option is not available for us now.
Well, you have some kind of control: You can mark your model’s as NSFW and be on the safe side. Not via the checkbox, but as a tag - that is still possible. The system should at least be able to recognize that. Then it should definitely be classified as NSFW if that tag is set.
Knowing, and already having seen it in the past, you may not control it and it may even be a Makerworld error, but the loss is yours since they will take away your points for it.
I have also thought about that and i tried uploading a model with nfsw content and also with the tag. It does not automatically identifies it as such, unfortunately. It could work for certain models faster or slower even, i don’t know.
Whoever uploads nfsw content is subject to their terms or changes, sadly. If they decide you are wrong, it’s your loss.
If its now an AI ingesting the listing to determine if its NSFW or not, you should probably make sure to do as Retro suggested and tag it yourself, too. If its just a bunch of rules, let it hit a rule quickly and be done
The option is missing because when i uploaded a file maybe 2 weeks ago or 3 it wasnt there and still isnt lol. I got a notice today about my file being unfriendly lol
