any way to reduce the number of supports on this thing?
link the model please we can slice one for you.
For supports you need to do it twice for optimal findings. BEFORE and AFTER it’s sliced like your above picture.
Before = turn off supports. slice. it will complain and highlight the blue areas. look to see what is critical to get an idea of what the slicer is trying to support.
After = look again at the blue and where it’s putting green supports. If you move the layers down on the right slider you can see the area just when it gets to the line of the blue support part.
Look at the overhang now moving layer by layer upwards to see it “print” on screen. does the overhang look like more than 45 degree’s? Or is it printing in air? If yes to either one of these questions - you need a support there the machine probably can’t handle it.
Less than 45 or no air printing? Can possibly remove the support and not bother as our bambu’s can do overhangs and 45’s like champs.
NOTE: Filament matters! gen pla acts VERY differently than say PLA+ often when I fail to print something in gen, i swap to pla+ and it prints perfectly due to the abilities of the filament. So at times it’s your filament restricting your printing not your settings.
Now, in prep mode, click the model. Above in the buttons is a “support painter” right click = red STOPS supports, left click = blue PUTS supports. if you find overhangs and stuff you don’t want supports on as the printer should be able to do it fine - just paint the areas red you want to avoid and reslice.
It will show you what the edits are, check again, paint again yada yada until you can get less supports. Notice in your picture it painted green underneath as well? you are on a raft for the part? why not lay it flat on the bed first?
Please link the model so we can all see what it is and the best way to print it. Thanks!
EDIT: extra settings as well - remove overhangs checked off helps as the printer will avoid small juts and things and just pritn them straight!
Support painting is the easiest solution to this problem. Also, make sure your model is directly on the bed. There should not be room for supports underneath the base of your model.

tell me if that works…i hadnt used google drive a coons age.
Also, i love the fact you want to do it for me…but heh im trying to learn here so typing it like you did is a big help to me.
i also discovered i had prime tower cliked…which tries(i think to have all come from one support location and was burying it in supports. When i unchecked it removed a LOT of supports.
This model will never print don’t bother. Made for resin / broken
FYI the prime tower actually has nothing to do with things at all.
It has floating regions in the center top mass so this will cause the nozzle to print in air basically. spaghetti mess and fail the print.
Not all models you find can be printed on all printers, this one seems to be made for resin not fdm printers. Also figurines are VERY difficult to print.
I sliced the model anyways and came up with 5grams of support = nothing in the grand sceme of things. Your 1st image all green WILL be the only way to print this if you do not cut it up into chunks BUT even then the empty regions need to be taken care of in some modeling software to fix them.
Sadly this is all I can toss in to help for this problem it’s beyond me to repair this in any software. [ Other people that are more highly skilled in modeling might be able to help you here if you really want this model] But it was a good example for learning on what the printer is capable of and why you were having issues!
Sorry !
EDIT: to be slightly more helpful, on resin printers the software slices and puts supports like this:
the bottom is the top as resin printers “hang” the print and print downwards that’s why it connects them with these long beam like supports allowing a very different detailed print VS our fdm style.
Heres the thing, thats a heroforge mini and they print in plastic! I bought the stl file from them. In fact i have a standing version of that mini i printed from an stl file i bought from them.
I also used the repair feature in bambu and got this version to print but i was using a larger nozzle and the feet didnt print
Now im confused
I stand corrected then! Apologies.
I would have refused to attempt this print if someone asked me in the shop as I described above. there was something wrong with the model itself to have multiple mid air gaps, honestly beyond my skill level to manually repair in a modeling software but I’m happy to hear the repair fixed whatever it was.
The slice with supports on “tree” normal or hybrid will get this printed then if fixed. yes it will be normal to have that many with this model as per your 1st post. I did as well I would consider that safe enough. the tower thing is if you have multi color ams if you do then yes in fact this will change things on that front.
I don’t know what nozzle you have either I was slicing with the standard 04. yes you are right on 02 it changes - i never use 02.
Glad it worked for you!
Heh well im printing it as i type so ill let ua know in morning how it came out
Ok well it did print and the problem you mentioned never showed up. However the leg wasnt attached to the model. Any way to fix it? I repaired it sorta and glued it to the model but its not like the original.
Edit:ok, after going back to HF and examining my model i noticed the leg wasnt actually attached to the base by a micro space. Thats a my bad not theres so ive fixed it(checked all legs as well) and changed a couple things and purchased it again(they gettin rich offa me lol) and ill try a reprint one last time.
From my understanding of that site - I went and created an account - they allow you to model figurines then buy them - for them to print for you then ship as a service in resin due to the details. In using their system I cans see it’s really made for resin printing I was correct. Unless you tune your printer with a 02 nozzle and specific settings getting this detailed without issues is going to be a problem much like you are currently having. Also as much as you enjoy that print working - to be honest the print quality is terrible and the details washed out - it’s not a successful print in my eyes even if it finished.
I see no mention of FDM printing there either, I also don’t really like how you are deliberately not giving up all the information when asking for advice and writing one sentence like you did in your original post to make others look silly and yourself look better.
Write what nozzle size you are using, write your settings, write what you did, where you got this, what you are trying to do - It’s like pulling teeth and I very much dislike that especially after I take time out of my schedule to try and help - trust me this will be the last time on this forum.
I’m happy you got resin style models from a site selling them by itself to print on the A1 - It probably shouldn’t as they want you to buy them and have it printed from their services it seems but great it worked for you with whatever you discovered and if that makes you happy so be it!
I’m out of this thread now , I’ve honestly had enough teeth pulling trying to get correct info on a model and service that isn’t made for this printer at all.
Best of luck!
Ok my friend i appreciate the help ya gave and i learned alot. Its weird though…i have the mini’s from HF in front of me and they are plastic. Wonder how in heck they are doing it?
