On AMS filemant run out: Allow remote change to another filament

I drove to work and got the message “filament run out”, once again.

There is other filament in the AMS 2 Pro, same Vendor, Same Material, Same Parameters, but a slightly other color.

It’s somewhat illogical to me why I can’t remotely tell it to start using this filament in another slot.

If there were different printing parameters required, I could absolutely understand the limitation. I also understand that it might be an issue if the other filament is already scheduled for use in a multi-color print.

But at least for the simple case – where the current print doesn’t plan to use the new filament and it matches all parameters (except color) of the depleted filament – there should be an option to remotely switch to that other filament, perhaps after one or two warnings.

Seeing as the printing parameters are the same, I’m pretty sure that you could lie to the printer and tell it that it’s the same filament and then maybe it’ll let you use it to finish the print? Yeah it’s easier to just add it as a feature but there’s something I guess? :person_shrugging:

It is not possible to edit the filaments in an AMS 2 Pro at a X2D mid print….

That is true, the only way to do it would be to set it like that before the print so it would let you. Hopefully this gets added in the future!
