Just want to make sure this is normal. I know the extruder hits that rocker thing in the back which makes that clicking noise, but there’s also a single, really loud clang and I’m not sure if it’s coming from that same rocker in the back. It’s just before the extruder begins to print. Other than that, everything else is perfection. Also happens after it begins after a new color swap (If I’m not mistaking). Sound familiar or scary?
Sounds like a normal filament purge / wipe action.
Yeah it’s kinda loud. But imo normal behaviour

Yeah the nozzle cleaning process did scare me the first few times i heard it doing it but now i dont think anything of it.
Mine does it only after the first layer inspection. I think it over travels to the rear and gets stuck on the chute gate flipper. When it resumes, it comes off the flipper with a disconcerting clank that is much louder than the normal little clink it makes after the first purge and after a color change.
I just watched it finally and yes, you’re right - definitely happens after layer inspection. The extruder makes the loud clang, then shoots towards the front (near the glass door), then onto the model. It’s so untamed! 
Just glad it’s normal. So far, the unit has been mint in every way.
My new X1C also does this. The action is violent enough that I am concerned that it will eventually lead to a plastic part failure on the part the extruder is getting stuck on.
Do we know if this is truly expected behavior or just something that a few of us are experiencing and worthy of some form of tuning/maintenance to prevent it from getting stuck/unstuck on each new print job?

The nozzle wiper is a replacement maintenance item. There was several spares included in your parts kit.
My extruder is not catching on the filament wiper. It is catching on the chute trapdoor lever. I don’t believe this part is intended to be exposed to significant wear, much less a hard yanking at the beginning of each print.
It’s absolutely supposed to do that.

It is scary as s^^^. Mine does the same thing but not sure why. Seems like the head is hitting the right sideof the case.
Mine does it, too. And it doesn’t sound healthy. After the first layer inspection, it moves back for purging, and when it moves to continue the print, the loud smack appears.
I tried to find the source using slow-motion footage, but I had no success.
It is the poop shoot door, I’m not a fan of it either but that is what it’s supposed to do.
I wouldn’t say it’s supposed to make the louder clank that happens after a first layer inspection or color change, but it is a normal noise for many if not all X1C printers. For some reason, there is a difference in how it interacts with the poop chute lever between normal purging and the wipe after a first layer inspection or a color change. My X1C has 723 hours on it, it’s been making that noise since day one and seems to be working fine. I see no wear or damage due to it so I just use it as a audible progress indicator.
Mine has started to have like a little chink sound when it exroods or when it is printing it sounds weird.
The noise referred to in the original post is due to the hot end flicking the purge chute gate. It has since quieted down, probably due to a firmware update.
Is you noise occurring during printing and if so, what is it printing when it does it? For example, is it making the noise when printing all the way to the right? The drag chain can hit the frame and make a noise.
