What does “Open Source” mean here? The given explanation appears to have some translation issues.
“Check off” normally means “check,” but are you using it to mean “uncheck”?
Does it mean “open source” in the licensing sense? These files are CC-BY-NC-ND, so should I uncheck it?
What are “cloud slicing algorithms”? Slicing doesn’t occur in the cloud afaik.
Edit: My main concern is that “Open source” is being used incorrectly, and it sounds like a more permissive license than I want to apply. Also, the “source” of a 3D project is the CAD file, not the model files (STEP or STL).
I can’t answer any of the questions, but since “recently” I’ve tried to download some source files attached to MW models… These are listed in the “Download STL/CAD files” popup, but the download buttons are disabled, and when hovered a tooltip says “Closed source file. Not available for download.” The listings themselves have permissive licenses.
Here’s one: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1970852-j1772-adapter-charger-wall-mount
I can only assume that the “open source” checkbox wasn’t checked… but none of that makes any sense (why’d someone upload the file in the first place?). Maybe I just never ran into a listing like this before, but now stumbled on a few by chance in the last month or so…? Just odd.
Cheers,

In my case, some followers have directly asked me to upload the .step files. I infer that it’s generally so they can use other slicers. I’m happy to help with this.
