Is there a option to remotely power cycle the Bambu Lab 3D printer?
I have issue with just flipping the power/kill switch in the back as its not a graceful shutdown.
Lots of us here power the printer through a Wifi plug adapter. This way you can remotely power the printer up or down.
Yes I have heard/thought of that but that is no different than just pulling the plug on the printer which I am avoiding (for now).
Other than the @JonRaymond solution, you can install a wifi switch.
Neither pulling the plug nor toggling the power switch is “graceful” in the sense that both physically disconnect power without notifying the processor boards. I don’t know if there’s a mechanism inside the printer’s electronics to sense a declining supply voltage and do a panic shutdown. But flipping the power switch, pulling the plug and using an Alexa-controlled switch all have the same effect on the printer.
There is, this is how the printer can recover from a power loss as it remembers where in the gcode file it is and records it.
That being said, I don’t know if this input is monitored in the standby state.
The graceful power down your looking for doesn’t currently exist.
Sorry. I misunderstood the question as removing the power cable or using the power switch will lead to different effects (at least when I tested times ago), yet you are right; both will cut power.
I am unaware of any desktop printer that uses software commands to power down, except for modded ones. They, however, may exist.
The necessity for a software-driven power-down has been discussed for many years, yet I never read a clear clarification regarding the reason. However, empiricism shows that the switch does not affect the printer software and hardware (assuming that the printer follows the correct bring-down procedure in the end g-code).

Any reports of users bricking their 3D printer by pulling the plug on it on a daily basis? Users should wait for a print to be completed before turning off the printer, so lets assume everyone does that. I don’t think I have come across any reports of Bambu printers turning into paper weights from constant power cycles?
I’ve been using a wifi plug for months and most nights flick it off (I have a google automation when i say “goodnight” to switch the house into sleep mode). So far no ill effects, my X1C is running like it did when new. I am also in the “leave it on” as heat/power cycles etc but figure something goes wrong it’s probably near end of life anyhow.
Thanks for the info, i’ve been turning it off with a smart plug for the last month and wondering the same thing.
I also use a Smartplug since I got the machine. No issues. I turn it off after almost every print (just waiting till the hotend fan shuts off).
The OS doesn’t run from an SD card so it doesn’t have the same issues with corruption like a PI does.
Almost all 3d printers run completely from solid state components and eeproms.
The SD cards are merely storage devices and do not affect the printers operation.
This means there is no magnetic or analog devices to be corrupted by an abrupt power down (except for the SD card during a write/read).
Turning off the printer will not affect or corrupt any internal components in any way.
I just use The Clapper. Range is dependent on how loud you can clap.
Elegoo fluidd has an e stop that effectively does it. you can reboot klipper printers remotely.
