Orca Slicer or die!

I didn’t understand you wrong, what you’re saying goes against some older information I read so I’m looking for confirmation from someone actually doing it.

It seems BL forces P1S users to ditch OrcaSlicer with fw 01.08.00.00. There are a lot of people complaining their P1S stops working and some have problem starting the print from OrcaSlicer after new update.

Before recently, I had to keep lingering with BL cloud because I needed it for xTouch

I tried real hard to ignore the update popup on the printer ask me to update to fw 01.08.00.00. But recently BL cloud forced log-off on web account and so my xTouch stopped working with BL cloud. The method to get cloud provisioning for xtouch is gone now. Fortunately, xTouch new firmware now supports offline direct connection to the printer over LAN, yay!

Now I am happy with LAN only mode, no more cloud bs, no more fw update. Orca now works flawlessly in LAN only mode, what a relief.

There’s a work towards still making it possible to try and use new network plugin with Orca: WIP: Support latest BambuLab P/X/A firmwares by Noisyfox · Pull Request #9517 · SoftFever/OrcaSlicer · GitHub

However the fact that Bambu deliberately hinders open-source slicer is VERY bad on them.

That’s the thing, beyond any arguments about Bambu’s reasons, I just feel like the whole move is short sighted. Any benefits of the closed garden approach potentially keeping your users in house is lost by alienating a strong community of independent developers who will do endless hours of free labor to support the product.

I currently have the issue that the print is sent but wont start so for now my work around is to

a. print it from Orca and then cancel and re-print from the history using the mobile App.

b. simply send it to SD card from Orca and then start the print from mobile App.

They are both a pain but at least it works.
I know that there is a fix to attempt to make this work as stated above but have not tested yet.

Since I have AMS 2 I need the latest firmware.

In my case i cant use LAN mode and xtouch are a solution for the BAD and Ridiculous controls for P1 series.

Now i cant control the printer easily and is a real pain in the *** use this bad controls.

It’s like a downgrade, i understand xtouch it’s third party but this simple screen help to control the printer better and make the printer better (i love this printer with easy control, but i hate it when i need to use the original screen).

A few people here or there selling their printers in protest does not have any significant impact on Bambu’s overall sales. I’ll stand by that assessment until the day I die.

I was thinking on this… So long as Bambu Studio continues to be based upon Prusa Slicer, then they’re going to use their network plugin… I expect the issue is, Orca using the Bambu Studio network plugin will be considered “unlicensed use” of the plugin… so while technically possible, would likely get them sued… basically they will have to come up with a method where you’ll have to have the latest Bambu Studio installed, and then they will hijack the plugin… but they won’t be able to download and install the plugin directly like they do now.

Orca is NOT acting poorly though… They refused the Bambu Connect “solution” because Bambu Connect is total HOT GARBAGE, and therefore using it makes ORCA stink like the trash heap by association… get it? Why take what is arguably one of the best slicers on the market, and enshitify it by making it use Bambu Connect?

Because “using a connect plug-in” doesn’t do any such thing in the eyes of anyone who isn’t over zealous

First of all: Learn how to use the citation function. Then you won’t need a new post for every answer.

Furthermore: What do you want from me now? With your first answer you already present yourself as someone who is not worth the time for any further discussion.

And finally, you obviously didn’t understand what I was talking about. Nobody said that BL would go bankrupt because of this.
But an unsold unit is an unsold unit. It doesn’t matter whether it’s one or thousands.

considering their growth rate: they won’t notice.

My f…… god. That was NOT the point
