Alot of info in the update, but one of the more interesting is Printables now allow you to send stl from their site straight to Orca Slicer to slice. No need to log in or have an account.
Does it require a Printables Connect app running on your machine locally to authorize the print?
I do not have connect on my machine. So I say it does not need it. It did give me a pop up to check that I wanted to download the file to the program on my machine(orca slicer).
Sorry, just some dry humor at BL’s expense.
Yup and it will open the file not mess up slicer settings …. In contrast to BL slicer
Now you get 2 buttons next to the model in Printables - open in slicer and or slice.
Haven’t tried the slice option yet - but definitely something BL needs to learn how it’s done.
a new version of orca slicer (beta) is available.
take a look, its worth
Will do. So already got a post deleted when i stated the count down timer has started until BL benefits again from open source …. And gives nothin in return. Perhaps this one gets “flagged” also
Well, some changes in 2.3 would really benefit people dead-set on using BS, such as asking whether to import the model’s settings without printer data (yes, someone in Orca made PR for that “annoying issue” and fixed it that way). And the structured noise would benefit many creators I think (me included)
The fuzzy skin got a MAJOR upgrade (using structured noise options mentioned in an earlier post). Filament profiles are handled much better, and some excellent print options have been added. Orca Slicer is back in the lead. Expect a later Version of BD to implement these. Right now, the latest BS release is basically a bugfix and makerworld interface upgrade (and maybe a step closer to locking down with this, but that remains to be seen).
This video highlights some of the new features.
