OrcaSlicer 2.0 Beta is out

I just downloaded the 2.0 Beta with some impressive feature additions.

I wanted to start this thread to discuss some of these features as people use them.
I’m not sure I understand all of the features, but I will likely start playing with the
“Scarf Joints” first.

Another eye catching mention is the bridging for counter bore holes. That looks promising.

Quite few nice changes in 2.0. I like the new navigation cube, it provides better control than left-click/drag and clicking a corner reorients the plate quickly without needing to remember keyboard shortcuts.

Agreed!
Navigation was a real annoyance before, when using a laptop track-pad.
This should make it much easier.

My install of Orca actually broke when I started using the keypad positioning. So, seeing them add a basic nav cube is SUCH a welcome sight. I don’t really mind seams so the scarf joints don’t really interest me. However, the counterbore bridging is another welcome addition. One less step in modeling for me.

I just tried this method of counter bore bridging. It worked well. @JonRaymond introduced it to me a while ago.

I installed the beta and was immediately rewarded with a ruined print. The bug is already fixed in nightly build but for now I went back to the release version. I should have known better, lol

Oops!
I suppose that’s why it is labeled “beta”.
I have both versions installed myself.
The slicer preview shows the single wall though, correct?

True, inspecting the preview is always a Good Idea™ and even better when running beta versions. Somehow I got the idea to just trust it, and Murphy immediately came at me.
