Hello,
I am new to 3d printer. In what order should we do the calibrations below:
I’ve asked that question before and never received a firm answer.
I use the OrcaSlicer calibrations in the order listed in the menu:
After the first three I usually get good print results, and I’ve stopped there. Seems a different flow rate or PA should affect a temperature tower result, but I’ve not yet tried a second pass. I do wonder if repeating the tests would fine tune the results a bit more.
I’ve run the Max flowrate and VFA tests on only a couple of filaments. Those results have allowed a little more speed on some models, maybe a bit better surface on others.
I have found if a use a specific suppliers filament and I do the calibration test and setup on one of the colours and types, I can generally use most of the filament for that brand and type for most of the different colours. I have found some colours need additional calibration once I run the calibration and setup, I just highlight the type brand and colour as a separate filament profile.
Please also be aware if you setup a profile for normal PLA the profile for PLA matt will not always be the same. I would recommend you run a calibration for each filament type and brand you use and save the profiles in Bambu Studio. Once done correctly you should not have a problem unless your brand supplier changes his formula on their filament batch mix.
Interesting that they list flow before PA. Bambu slicer does the opposite so I always did PA before flow rate. Perhaps it doesn’t matter that much, I’ve only use Bambu filament so far.
There’s not a lot of overlap between PA and flow, so do them in whichever order you feel like. In my case, I’ve never found flow calibration to be needed.
I do temperature towers but rarely see a need to do anything with the result, unless I’m using cheap generic PLA that doesn’t like to be printed hotter than 195. Max volumetric testing is needed only if you are looking to see how fast you can print a specific filament - the Bambu generic defaults are rather low.
On new filament, I usually do the flow first since it will create a new filament profile for it in Bambu Studio.
Then the PA… they are reversed in Bambu Studio for some reason.
Thank you all for this good information.
I usually do flow rate first and PA after so that PA can calibrate with the correct flow rate.
Oldie but goodie!
Ive usually done just PA and only done flow on a couple filaments, and when I did those I went with flow first then PA
Agree overall doing it how Orca lists them is a good approach, but definitely dont need to do them all unless youre having an issue in a particular area or are just on a mission to squeeze every inch of performance/speed from the unit
