Order of prints after color change

Does anybody know a way of setting the print ordering after a color change? Im trying to cut the poop and purge out completely by using purge to object but ive noticed it still poops some. I would like to set the poop to 0.0 and not use a purge block. How can I force the slicer to jump to the “purge to object” parts first? Say I have 6 total parts on the bed but I want it to change color, jump to purge object, purge object, purge object, Normal part, normal part, normal part.

Im not trying to print 1 object at a time but rather direct the order of the layering.

Or does anybody know what im doing wrong and why its still pooping even when I set the poop to 0.6 and cut out the purge block. I also selected “purge to object” on the 3 purge items. It poops, jumps to 1st purge object and then to a normal part next. Instead of the next purge object. All the color change is done before it even jumps to the purge object.

Is this only for purging and not pooping? If so, can I drop the poop to 0.0 and it will automatically purge more to the purge objects? I would do the science my self but im in the middle of long prints.

I am pretty sure that flush-to object doesn’t work properly if you turn the prime tower off.
You can however set the size and length of prime to be quite short (but not so short as to make the tower unstable).

If you then put enough flush-to objects on the plate with layers with plenty of extrusion at the levels in the multi coloured model where the colour changes occur you should be able to get the total flush length down to less than 1m or less than 1g.

Flushing into cubes for example works - but it is best if the top layers of the cubes line up with the colour changes in the multi coloured object - as layers with lots of internal gaps don’t help much with taking flush.

Probably the easiest thing to do is clone quite a few of the flush-to objects - and if after slicing the flush total goes right down - you can then start deleting copies and re-slicing until it goes back up again.

Even if you get flush down to practically zero there will still be around 30mm wisps of filament extruded down the shoot.

I have been doing quite a lot of investigation of this subject - including writing code to analyse the GCODE - if you look at my ‘making better use of purge objects’ thread in the AMS section you will see a few examples of being able to get down to really low levels of flush.

Youre right. Thanks for the response. Can I just make the purge tower really small and it will still poop into the objects? Do I need to set the poop offset to 0.0? or can I set it to the factory 1.0? I’ll also go read your other thread. Thanks again.

I think the other part of my problem is that im using more than 2 colors per layer.

If I could only choose the print ordering, I think I could set the poop to 0.0 and drop the purge block.

Yes - I have set it as low as 10mm in both parameters.

Do you mean flush multiplier - I personally set my flush volumes by pressing auto calculate - then set my multiplier to 0.5. - as per the ‘Teaching Tech’ Video.

There was a problem reported by the ‘3d printing professor’ video about flushing into more than 2 colours per layer not working - but I haven’t seen that issue and I’ve managed more than 3 ok. I think the key to it is keeping a small prime tower.
