Hi all! My P1S arrives tomorrow, and I’ve already received my upgraded components to print carbon fiber (hardened nozzles, hardened extruder gears). The nozzle labels both explicitly describe them as hardened steel, while my gear assembly box labels it as “Extruder Gear Assembly” (model number: SPP018-G). Visually, I can’t tell whether what I received is a replacement for the standard gears included with a stock P1S, or if this is the actual hardened steel version. Does anyone know how I can determine if what arrived is actually hardened steel? I’d like to verify before I attempt printing CF so as to not damage anything in the printer. Thanks so much!!
Welcome to the forum.
The hardened steel nozzles have a dark/black heat sink while the stainless nozzles have a gray heat sink.
I think that the only extruder gears that are available are all hardened.
Thank you both so much! Mine does look like the darker version, and I should be able to verify tomorrow when I install them. Really appreciate the help, and I’m glad to be joining a supportive community!
The hardened extruder’s model#: SPP018
The belonging gear’s model#: SPP018-G
It’s printed on the box. You got the correct one I think.
I would like to upgrade P1S for CF materials. Is there an article or YT on that process? That would be very helpful, thanks.
You just need a hardned extruder and nozzle. For CF either a .4 or .6
That is great. Now I know what to buy for my next printer.
Thank you John
