Overlap Between Multiple Parts In a Single Object

Howdy!

I’ve been recently working on an award/decoration. In Fusion 360 I created a base to a statue, and put words on 4 faces that extrude out from the base 0.4 mm, and protrude into the object roughly 4mm. All models are imported as multiple parts of one object. When slicing, the flat surface of the statue base is prioritized over the body of the text, leaving me with only 0.3mm of a different color/material barely hanging onto the parent object.

Any ideas on how to resolve this? I want to retain the debossed texture of the text over the surface of the base, and I don’t want to have to manually colorize each and every letter with the paint bucket as the sides of the text would need to be colorized, and with 40 letters on each model and potentially dozens of different models used with different text, that become tedious quickly.

My initial thought is somewhat crude: make a new solid surface that the text sits on, that is still recessed inside the base, allowing the 4 faces of text to be 4 separate models, and hopefully will be properly colorized and sliced.

Not sure if it helps but…

BambuStudio prioritises what ever is lower down in the list of parts of an assembly. Drag them further down to prioritise. Leave them higher up to deprioritise.

Again, not sure if this is your problem but your post came up when searching for a solution for a problem I was having so thought I would post anyway. :man_shrugging:
