TLDR: filament would not feed into extruder even though AMS lite pushed it in; manually shoving it in by pressing on orange button/tab and then pushing in filament got it to work again.
With the bambulab marble pla out of stock, I’ve been trying out overture’s rock pla as a substitute. Prints pretty great with the Bambulab PLA Basic profile - not perfect (weird and rare rippling here or there) but good enough for my needs!
However I have noticed a feeding problem; where even though the AMS lite motors would push the filament into the extruder, the extruder would not push out any filament. Like it would get to the print step and just move the head around without putting down any filament. What was weirder is that it worked just fine on my first print - it was on subsequent prints that it did this.
Was a major head scratcher; for me I fixed it by during the extruder calibration step by manually pushing in the filament - I pressed on the orange button/tab on the AMS lite to free the filament, and then pushed the filament in; just a little shove got it to start extruding and now I’m succesfully printing again.
Not sure if it’s just some weird issue with my unit; however I don’t think so since switching back to my Bambu Lab basic filament worked just fine (even using the same AMS slot by switching out filament roles made it work.) That or maybe just my specific roll of overture rock pla filament was a problem?
Either way wanted to share in case anybody else has seen this filament (or other filaments), or in case this helps anybody else out with their filament feed problems with overture rock pla
