P1P camera not working because of missing LAN IP

Same issue, p1p connects via ubiquiti wifi access point, to a edgerouter x to my pc via ethernet. Bambu studios works perfectly fine for files and print status, no luck on engaging camera (initialize failed (Missing LAN ip of printer)! as well as media stating “Not supported by this model of printer!”

Bambu lets get a update on this problem!

Yea I think this needs an update from Bambu.

I’m on a gigabit fiber to deco xe75 mesh to p1p.

I can send files wirelessly to the printer to print but I can’t get the camera to work

Got an update. Mentions this problem as a firewall issue? They need to give more information than just “turn off firewall” what ports is the camera trying to communicate with and such.

But why is this only on the P1P for most users? I can see both my X1C and P1P cameras without issue on my Windows devices. I can tell you the P1P camera stream is horrific compared to the X1C stream. 90% of the time all I see is a stuck frame, then it jumps to the live view for a couple seconds then freezes again.

Can you please take following two wiki pages as a reference when there is problem in P1P camera?
https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/p1/troubleshooting/wifi-bt-liveview

Hello rocky,

That link only provides “Your printer supports only Lan Direct connection, but Bambu Studio can’t find the Lan IP of your printer. Please turn off your network firewall of your computer and restart Bambu Studio to retry”

I am on the same subnet as the p1p. It communicates via bambu slicer fine. People need a more precise solution than just “turn off your network firewall.” If this is an issue with windows firewall, what ports, or exes can I add to windows firewall to not have the issue?

EDIT I disabled windows firewall completely. Restarted both bambu labs and my pc. It still gives the same error.

Mine works on both when at home but when I am at work I can access the P1P but not the camera.

The frame rate on the p1p is 0.5 fps, so that probably explains the video quality. For getting the video to show in app, unbind the printer, and then add it back in on the app. You can still only see the video while on the same network though.

Okay so it is only possible to view the P1P camera while at home on that network?

At least for now it is only possible to view the P1P camera while at home on the same network. I don’t know if the plan is for them to make it possible through the cloud.

My guess is it has something to do with updating their security measures - they apparently had some vulnerabilities earlier (Answering network security concerns for our printers), and their P1P troubleshooting page (P1P WIFI/BT/LIVEVIEW troubleshooting | Bambu Lab Wiki) says “The firmware version of 1.1.0.0 only supports image transfers via LAN.”

But I’m not affiliated with BL, so it’s all conjecture until someone at BL confirms.

I just got the live feed working on my iPhone! …time will tell if the LAN message will show back up.

I was having issues connecting to my printer after a week of working fine and no matter what I did the printer couldn’t be found on the network. So two possible things couldhv solved it. First was logging out of Studio/Handy/printer , forgetting the WiFi on the printer, creating a dedicated 2.4g network and reconnecting the computer , phone, and printer. Signed back in to everything and was finally reconnected via studio. While tryna figure all this out I read under the “P1P WiFi/bt/live view troubleshooting” wiki , something about location information so I went into the iPhone settings for Bambu Handy and enabled Local Network - I think it was the latter that fixed it

I’m going to throw this out there because I’m not sure it made the difference, but on my Mac running Ventura 13.1, in System Preferences, under Privacy & Security > Bluetooth, I explicitly added the BambuStudio application (it wasn’t there beforehand) and ensured it was enabled for Bluetooth.

After doing that, I’ve been able to load up both P1P’s cameras just fine, so maybe the lack of Bluetooth permission here also prevents the IP address discovery.

Just and FYI : I had the same issue and is how I fixed it.
FIRST - the cameral will only show on the same network. Meaning subnet mask.
If you use Vlans in your network and open the ACL to talk to several other networks, it sill will not work.
You have to be in the same wifi network as the Bambu Lab P1P.
Second, all windows firewalls, turn them off at first to see if that also helps.
To bring the cost point down, they put a smaller CPU in the P1P. It is not the same as the X1.
So that would be why the camera stutters at time also the print seems to stutter also when you go on Ludicrous speeds .
ALSO it cannot stream very well.

I’m having the same problem and I can’t send file to print directly to p1p.

I have a P1P and the camera doesn’t work in the Bambu studio (Windows) or the Bambu handy.
Very frustrating!

the same here …
But it is my first day with my P1P

Edit:
The camera is running.
I had also first searched under Media and got there the message Missing IP.
In the tab Status is a Meien window above the print status.
There I just had to click on Play and lo and behold the camera is running.

I think we’re all basically stuck right now.

They made changes regarding the security of bambu slicer and firmware. These changes has put sadly specifically the P1P in a spot where the camera networking isn’t in a great spot.

I’m glad you got it working, but many of us are stuck. I’d really like to be able to monitor when away from the printer. Which just isn’t a thing currently.

Same here. Send gcode to printer and Camera is not working. I am in the same LAN in the same subnet. But I use Mesh on two access points. Hope Bambu is fixing this.

If you are used to Klipper. This is hard to life with.

I also have my troubles with the camera.
on the PC runs the stream.
why the heck do you have to use Windows Media Player?
by the way, the monitor no longer goes off (energy saving mode) when the stream is running.

what bothers me more is the fact that the stream does not run on my phone.
Android 10 Sony XZ2 COmpact (I love my little indestructible phone).

Since it works on the PC it must be the app.

btw. does the printer have a reasonable hostname on your DHCP server?

Edit:
In the meantime, thanks to a German forum, I found a solution.
apparently the config is not updated in the app.
so the app does not know that a camera is there.
the solution is to delete the printer in the app and reconnect.
