Well I randomly was digging through the bambu website and noticed this. It’s also posted in their blog page. I’m reposting here for awareness and I remember a few facebook users asking if the P1P was going to be discontinued in which official bambu lab support stated there wasn’t any plans to do so at the time and would be stated otherwise.

I would expect a promise to provide spare parts for five years to mean ALL parts will be available until February 10, 2031.
Weaseling out by saying “parts may sell out earlier” means the five-year commitment is meaningless, because parts supplies may sell out today.

I do not think there will be a problem with that considering the P1S and X1C share a majority of parts with the P1P. In the near future at least.
But I do agree. Buying parts in advance is a reasonable expectation, but this ignores unexpected faults like a heatbed, AP board, etc.
This is a reasonable step for the business, I just hope that once the time comes for the end of software support, they open the device to open source. Also allowing 3rd party sources to make more parts would be a great thing.

bad news really.
I have a p1p and I am in the process of purchasing a new printer.
I read that upgrades to p1s, do not work well.
I am less tempted to encourage Bambu , h2 series seemed interesting, but 5 years pass by so quickly…
after eol, no software upgrade… 
… and maybe not usable if removed slowly in bambu studio.
does anybody want an extra p1p?

You guys realize that the P1P is a P1S without some bits that you can readily buy and upgrade to. So since there is no EOL on the P1S you’ll have parts until it’s 5 year span when it hits EOL.
You’re in not going to run out of parts. Just won’t be able to buy a P1P

I would like to see them open-source the entire printer including all of it’s parts and designs, and on the last firmware update make it easy to install custom/modified firmware like Klipper onto it. This would show me a company that truly cares about it’s customers.

They have promised upgrades for years beyond now.
I’ve had one since right before the P1S launched and had upgraded it soon after. I will assume the firmware is different due to the AP boards being different. As for parts I think those are really the only real difference you can’t change. There’s a different AP board for the P1P than the P1S.
You’re looking at an 8 yr span, which is quite high for a printer. Elegoo likes to launch one every year, Creality every 5 minutes. Eight is a long time.
You purchased the wrong printer.
Because promising future firmware (security patches) and parts being available is so anit-consumer.

By software are you referring to Bambu Studio or to the firmware for the P1P? If it is Bambu Studio they will continue to develop it as it currently is a core product for all of their printer range.
If you are referring to the P1P firmware there doesn’t really need to be any further development as the P1 series firmware has reached maturity. The feature set it has is what the hardware can support. These printers will continue to function as they do for many years to come.

P1P EOL dates to remember:
End of manufacturing and active sales = 2026-02-10
Software & firmware bug fixes and feature updates = 2027-11-14
Software & firmware security patches = 2029-11-14
Continuous supply of spare parts = February 2031
Uninterrupted support = February 2031
End of spare parts supply and support = February 2031
So another 5 years until EOL for part supply, most of which are interchangeable with the P1S which hasn’t had an EOL announcement.
I own several P1 series printers and this announcement doesn’t have me worried at all. I already have stock of common replacement parts.

The only thing they won’t be able to get ahold of would be the enclosure (can be printed) or the AP board. Like you, have backups of backups.
I will now call my P1P that is upgraded to a P1S a “limited edition” printer. If I ever try to sell it in the future I will add limited edition, rare, hard to find and scarce to the listing.

This is really weird. Normally, an EOL notice would be issued some time after manufacturing has ended. As it stands now, this policy is in direct violation with EU warranty, which is for 2 years. Manufacturing stopped this Feb 10th, 2026. That means you MUST support EU Warranties THROUGH Feb 10, 2028, and you are SUPPOSED to support bug fixes and feature updates through then as well. I know, asking Bambu Labs to do something for the user seems like I’m asking a lot, but EU consumer protections exist for this type of thing.

Is this normal for a 3d printers life cycle? even in other companies, 5 years parts and support available and then ‘best of luck, costumers’ you have 3 years to collect and hoard parts? after the 3 years does the ‘eco system’ open up allowing people to use 3rd party stuff with no issues??
sorry for the questions, in the market to buy a 3d printer and was sure it was going to be P2S so signed up here and kept doing some reading and research. I guess of parts are shared with other still supported printers then its not really an issue??
Welcome to the forum. Other than Prusa I would think that Bambu’s product cycle has shown to be one of the longer ones. There are other prominent 3d printer brands that often cycle their products in 6 months to a year.
