P1P failed to resume after power outage

My P1P in the middle of a 10h print suffered a power outage.
The screen showed no sign of waiting for my input, clicking the ‘play’ button did nothing, and the nozzle is currently sitting on the print.

  1. Should I assume the print is gone and if so;
  2. Should I try to heat the nozzle and move the head before removing the print?

I ran this on Orcaslicer 1.9.0 beta, and it now crashes when I try to connect to the printer. If there are no suggestions for resuming the print, should I expect this in the future, and attach a UPS to it?

resume from a power outage is somewhat new give or take a few years when considering how long 3D printing has been around. Yes it’s been there longer than 3 years but this isn’t the first post I’ve seen regarding BL printers loosing power and not resuming so in my eyes it’s not 100%.

With that in mind if you expect a long print to always succeed in at least where power is concerned then yes get a UPS or some other method of providing power in case it’s not there.

I had to resume a print where i swiched it off by accident (wifi power plug).
If i remember correctly it showed a message and i had to manually start the print.

Was is a single power cut? I dont know how the printer handles multiple outtages in a series before its stable again, maybe that or you dismissed that message.

But i think if its not showing a message or progress the print is done.
Only thing is to measure the height, print the rest and glue it. You can find many tutorials online for that if its a reasonable solution.

If this happens more frequently you should invest in an ups and test it by switching off the printer yourself and check the steps needed.

Thanks for that, I wasn’t home when the power went out, so I’m not sure if it was an off-on-off-on situation. I suspect it was.
I eventually gave up on recovering it, and heated the nozzle before moving the plate and removing the print. It’s supposed to be a watertight container (after a spray or three) so I’ll not be able to glue it this time.
I do have a UPS which I can use, and when testing I found I have to physically remove the alarm due to massive current draw when it starts. Although I don’t think it’ll keep going for long after an outage, at least I should have enough time to pause it if it happens again (I’m in an outage prone area).
