P1P -> front door available?

Hi,

the print templates for the modplates of the P1P are only for both sides or?

Where can I get a front door? Make it yourself from acrylic glass from the hardware store and two hinges, or is there something ready or templates for printing?

I would wait a bit. A lot of designs are currently appearing for variations of the modplates. Some with doors and additional features.

For a door you will have to print a housing.
However, then not what is offered by Bambu, because with deisem the two front vertical curves are very thin 1mm and you can hardly attach a hinge there.

Many (me too) print the ACR housing and insert an acrylic glass door.

I have a very cheap case made from transparent 2 mm acrylic glass: link to printables. It’s probably the most affordable option right now (besides printing it all), €30 for the pre-cut panels, a few m3 screws and printable hinges will do the job :smiley:

that is not 100 % correct, the 1 mm lip extends just from the metal fold to the plastic frame

the lower plastic shell however has a 5,5 mm recess for the entire frontal area and is even more recessed at the leftmost edge - here you you have an 11 mm recess at the bottom and almost 12 mm at the top

i have already done some prototyping to get a hinge part fitted into those 2 places, it is very flimsy, but works sort of - fitting a 3 mm polycarbonate or plexiglass door is the ultimate goal

maybe there will be some aluminium angle brackets needed for strenght, but i refuse to accept a bulky hinge, like most enclosures do currently :slight_smile:

i will add this to the Minimalist Enclosure on Printables once it is finished

I have created a hinge that can be used with the factory x1 glass. Can be used with any of the case skins that have rounded corners (minimalist, Armor…etc). You can mount 1 of two ways, you can place on your corner panel before slicing and incorporate it into the panel. Or you can print as a separate piece that gets bolted to the panel before its installed. This hinge system puts the glass in the correct plane to match the factory trim at the bottom.

Currently working the latch side as well as the trim piece that goes under the top factory trim to close the gap. I will include the corner pieces as well to be downloaded.

Will post pictures on forum as well as get files up for others.

Having just printed the Armor (with enclosed fan side mod), I am looking forward to your door solution.

The X1 door mount and hinge is now on the store, do you think we can use it to add the original X1 Door on the P1P?

i’ve ordered the hinges and i’m pretty confident, i can make it work - there needs to be a “trim” piece with about 14,5 mm on the top, that needs a bit of tinkering to be installed without colliding, when the printhead is in the front, but i’m working on it for my enclosure - this surely can adapted for other enclosures

I plan to fit an X1 door to my P1P (with Armor enclosure). If you could please provide some photos of your efforts, that would be very helpful. Thanks.

I have a genuine mount kit and X1 door coming in a couple of days. I’m toying with how I can fill the 20mm gap difference between the X1 door and the P!P opening, and attach the top mount somehow.

I might even consider the opposite and have the gap at the bottom for airflow as I only plan to print with PLA.

Lots of options.

i don’t have a solution for that yet, but gap at the bottom is not trivial, since the mount is screwed in the lower plastic shell and the upper hinge in the frame at fixed mounting points, there is not enought space to shift them around without creating extra hardware out of metal
