P1P suddenly acting up wont start print unless paused/resumed

this just started happening recently but if i start a print the toolhead goes to front left like its getting ready to lay down the purge lines then just sits there. I noticed it is not heating to the temperature of filament profile i.e if petg 255 it stops heating at 165 degrees so it wont start because its not up to temperature but if i hit pause then resume the temperature starts to climb, and print starts… this is the latest firmware. anyone else have the issue or know what is going on?

Have you tried a different SD card? Weird issues can sometime be attributed to a failing card.

i havent but card is not that old and a high quality brand and speed

You can try reformatting first. I’m just going from multiple user experiences here. Odd printing issues/booting are most often caused by a bad card.

Is it always at exactly 165°C?
That’d be weird. Otherwise I’d guess that the temp reading is faulty due to, for example, degraded thermal paste on the hot end.

I assume that in your GCode (visible in Pre-view Line Type), has this line as M109 S255?

If yes on both counts, I’d give Jon’s advice a shot. Not really comfy with the whole IT side myself. Managed to waste a card myself due to the formatting.

well this is strange i just loaded another random stl and it is printing as normal so perhaps the file i had had some sort of corruption…
it laid down the purges and heated to the 255 temp no issue… ill keep experimenting and see if i can find out what is causing it

so to add to this I just started another petg print and this time it did it again but temp stalled at 167 this time, hit pause then resume and it went on to prit normally… perhaps ill roll back firmware and see if it persists. video link shows the issue

video bugged

I’d recommend removing the silicone sock of the hot end and check/replace the heat paste. You could of course also swap the hot end assembly to check if the problem arises there as well.
If that is the issue, then it is fairly easy to resolve.

yeah i just put another print on the bed and it loaded no issue… after this print i might change nozzle just to see if that could be the issue but this nozzle is pretty new hardened and my p1p is very lightly used

update i ran a few prints today in pla no issue, but it seems when I run PETG i get this error more frequently so perhaps its tied to the petg profile somehow? still researching
