Hey,
Should I go ahead now and purchase a P1P, or are their rumors that they are doing a revamp of the P1 series? The A1 would be the better printer, but it’s obviously out until May/June.
Not enough info.
What are you planning on printing? Multi colour prints or not?
Did you mean P1S?
Why do you think the A1 is better?
If you want a good bed slinger have you considered an Ender 3 V3?
I want to try multi color printing. No way you just put a ender 3 V whatever over a A1🤣. I’ve had my run with Creality. I don’t need the enclosure, I don’t need future support for other filaments (at least I think). But to me if I buy a P1P then I can’t do multicolor. If I do, it’s gonna be something around 1k with taxes. Might as well spend $400ish more for a X1C! But knowing I’m not in need of the added future benefits of a P1 printer, do you still recommend one? Would love to hear your thoughts!
Tell us more about your intended application.
Are you just printing figures and toys?
The P1P is superior in so many ways. But if you are not looking to print “functional” pieces, saving the money is understandable.
I believe the P1 series is the “best bang for the buck”. It should amaze anyone coming from a Ender-anything.
Although I am always not using my printer to print industrial/functional parts, I do sometimes print parts other then just PLA. I have had many P1 clones that gave me hours and hours of frustration. That is why I felt better going with a A1 other than the multicolor factor.
If the 2 have the same quality, what damage am I doing going with a cheaper, multicolor print system? I’m aware of the waste that it produces.
I would say I have a mixed print experience. Some parts, some not. I may print more prints classified as toys for a month, then switch to an organizer. I do not print any figurines. Then there is always the screen and camera comparison. The A1’s UI is miles ahead of the monotone trackpad system. But who cares if a screen looks bad if the print quality is un beatable?
P1 = core XY
A1 = bed slinger
There is no comparing quality of output.
The only (real) advantages the A1 has over the P1 is the price and the ability to print color without the AMS add on.
Some people find the control system on the P1 series annoying, but it doesn’t bother me much. Most of the controls can be accesses through Studio or Handy.
98% of the time I only use the d-pad to load/unload filament. And they made it pretty easy to do.
So they even though one is Core XY and another is a bed slinger they have the same quality. So in this case I can go with the A1 but the P1 series it still a great option for me?
I’m sorry my wording was not clear…
A core XY is superior to a bed slinger.
It’s the new gold standard of 3D printers. Many people think BL moved backwards producing a bed slinger.
Thank you for clarifying. As of right now I will be going with a P1P and upgrading to a AMS and enclosure along the way.
Good choice.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, especially coming from an Ender.
Funny story.
My boy friend bought a Creality Ender 5 S1 a little over a year ago. He enjoyed it when he could get it to print decently, but had so much frustration trying to work out the kinks. Just the bed leveling was enough to make him pull his hair out.
Having an engineering background, I really liked the idea of being able to print my own designs, but didn’t want the hassle and frustration he was having. I did my research and saw BL just released the P1P and it was almost the same price he spent on the Ender 5 S1.
I ordered one and waited. When it finally came I unboxed it, set it up and pushed the calibration button. A few minutes later I printed my first model… a benchy of course.
It printed in half the time it took his Ender. I handed it to him and said “what do you think”?
He looked at it and said something to the affect of “I think I wasted $550!”
He ordered his own P1P not long after that and never touched the Ender again. He insisted he was going to use the Ender again “someday”.
I finally convinced him to take the Ender off of his workbench because he needed the space. I’m sure it will just sit in the closet for years until he needs that space. LOL
The website is currently showing the P1S as “New” with the pre-sale option. Shipping around Mar 8. A few days ago it did not have that flag as new and pre-sale.
My Creality experience went something like this: I was gifted a Ender 3 V2. Liked it a lot but didn’t know why prints were peeling up and any other common issues. Then I got a Ender 3 S1. I hoped the CR touch would help with my in experience in proper leveling, but didn’t. After a few months I reached out to the support team. We figured out the common issues, but to this day I still don’t know what went wrong with this printer.
After about 2 and a half months of daily back and fourth emails, I demanded a return. I am sure the Ender 3S1 is perfect for people, but mine definitely had something wrong. Finally they sent the address for me to ship the printer. I paid for shipping and sent them my PayPal, as requested. Instead, they said they can’t do it with just a link. So then I asked to refund the card. But they needed full bank details to get the return processed. So I sent the printer back and still no refund unless I cough up my social security number! Then I got a few other clones and just learned my leased and opted out for a BL printer. Which is where I am now. That entire thing was short in writing for but 2 and 1/2 years in total!
Whoever’s starting 3d printer is from Bambu Lab better be appreciative of whoever recommended it!!
I’ve never owned an Ender, my last Creality was an original cr10 from 10 years ago. From what I’ve seen they’ve really stepped up their game in the past year, and have released some pretty good printers - likely due to BBL success.
The P1S is a great printer. Like @Lexi said, don’t be discouraged with the poor screen. There are other options for screens but you’ll likely just end up using the mobile app anyway.
The benefits of the core x-y design and enclosure will mean you won’t need to worry about printing any material which you may do in the future.
Get into some designing and you may be able to get enough makerworld points to purchase an AMS later anyway (this is what I did).
But be forewarned. Don’t get too excited about Bambu if you had a poor experience with Creality’s customer service. Bambu is quickly becoming the “lead standard” of customer service in the 3d printing world.
What do you mean? Don’t get too excited, but they have the best customer service?
Lead standard, the opposite of gold standard.
“Low bar” or “bottom of the barrel” would be more common and less confusing than “lead standard”.
