P1S+AMS must have printable upgrades?

Hi guys, in your opinion there are printable upgrades/accessories that a P1S+AMS should have? And why?

Cheers

Highly recommend an AMS riser

Storage space for accessories, tools, spare parts,…
Slots for your build plates
And the best part, you can slot in your top glas for printing PLA

The list is quite too long. Search for “P1S” and “AMS” and sort it by downloads or boosts and you will find a lot great thing. Some ideas:

  • Poop bin
  • dust covers
  • ptfe guide
  • print plate guide
  • print plate holder
  • side spool holder
  • desiccant boxes for AMS
  • filament guide for AMS
  • …

I was asking because that search yields a rather long list.

Maybe it’s a dumb question, but I did not see a P1S live so far. I believe the printer has a glass top cover, is the raiser placed on top of it or it replaces the root with an ampty space?

Isn’t that bad for keeping the internal temperature? It should be enclosed for a reason, no?

The AMS riser has a space to take the original glass top and provide a seal. As well as much better lighting be an option. I love it!

Avoid these as they have been known to cause homing issues.

I never heard something about homing issues caused by dust covers or ptfe guide?
I am talking about these things:

And I have no idea, how these things, especially the dust covers, should interference with the homing?

However, I am using them and a few more since I own my printers without any issues.

The PTFE guide issues rears its ugly head every so often on the forum. @Olias has a very detailed post about his struggles.

I’ve seen users that print covers for the Z bearing well in the floor. The problem is that newer machines have longer bearings and so when their bed drops all the way to the bottom, the z bearings are pushed up and cause homing issues.

Users have printed covers for the steppers and this causes the printer to loose steps every time they print in the back corner or purge filament.

Pretty much what it boils down to, if your having homing, position or filament loading problems, remove all “mods” and see if that fixes the problem. It does for a good number of people on the forum. Hence my warning.

I will probably change my mind later, but so far I did not see something to scream OH MY GOD I NEED THAT.

The raisers looks cook, but I was a bit shocked by the amount of time and material used, especially when I see print farms full of stock P1S. Is really that useful?

I see, thanks for the information. That was at least new for me. However, 3D printer isn’t something from stock. Everyone you use any mods, should understand and test how it works. I for example added some ptfe-tube-guides for the top (at 3 positions), however, I found out, that for some models the 3. position causes an unwanted bend of the ptfe tube. So I removed this thing.

I can just say, that all “my” mods are working fine, without any issues. I am happy for all of them, as they improve my printing experience and are helping me to keep my printer clean. But I am also doing regular maintenance and checking all this things regularly.

I’ve yet to see any problems printing PLA with the top and the door closed. My prints come out basically perfect. Maybe it would be more of an issue if I was maxing out the Z height by routinely printing helmets or something, but that’s not how I use my printers.

So I’d not worry about a riser or anything huge thing like that until you actually experience a problem you want to solve with it. And of course the first test is simply opening the door to see if that helps.

Poop chute is something that was needed immediately with an AMS.
