P1S & AMS Not syncing custom filaments

I’ve seen others have this issue, I’ve tried a few proposed solutions such as removing the device via the app and connecting again via bambu studio. Nothing works. It was working for a little while after adding a new custom filament, then it just suddenly stopped.

I have only Generic PLA and Generic PETG system profiles added. I removed the rest to have less clutter. However, in the device tab it shows all the system profiles of all different material types. Beyond that, as I mentioned, the custom filaments I added don’t show up. Curiously, they do show up just fine on the phone app.

When I go to the custom filament tab I see the ones I made. When I edit them, all the info is gone, it’s just a blank page. When I click “add preset” both drop down menu’s are empty.

When I try to create a new custom filament and selecting the option to “Create based on current filament” I get an error that says that I haven’t selected a printer or preset yet. It does let me select the custom profile I previously created, but it always shows the error I mentioned.

My custom profile only shows up in the filament selection on the “Prepare” section and on the phone app.

Is there a permanent solution to this problem? Right now I have to remake the profile each time to get the AMS to recognize it in the device tab.

This issue definitely still exists. I cannot make a new custom filament profile at all.

This is really annoying, it seems like dark pattern to avoid users buying from other vendors to be honest. It is the kind of issue or “bug” that really benefits them financially.

Not to discredit your conspiracy theory but Bambu has even gone to the extent of creating a wiki article detailing exactly how to add 3rd party filament.

Not to discredit your discredit, but the extent that they went to make it 10x more complicated for custom filaments than their own is really something that made a lot us wondering where is this coming form.

Except… it’s not their workflow…

Bambu Studio is based on PrusaSlicer by Prusa Research, which is from Slic3r by Alessandro Ranellucci and the RepRap community. So the relationship (heiarchy) of filament to printer existed well before Bambu Studio existed.
