P1S and PETG

Hello. I have been having a terrible time trying to get generic PETG to print properly on my P1S. It generally looks like a bomb has gone off inside my printers and there fragments all over the place.

I was very excited to find the article by Donnie called " Bambu Lab X1 Carbon PETG Settings – Get Perfect Prints" - Dated 23 Dec 2023 (By Donnie) as it showed exactly what I was seeing when I try to print using PETG.

So this morning I set about creating a new dedicated profile to mirror the settings so comprehensively laid out in the document, only to find that I couldn’t even find the settings from the first screenshot (filament diameter, flow rate etc). I assume that this is because a new version of BambuLabs Studio has either moved them or rolled them into a different location. But I can’t find these anywhere (I am using the in-built search to try and find the settings.

Does anyone know if this is no longer accessible, or am I just looking in the wrong place?

Donnie’s article is here: Bambu Lab X1 Carbon PETG Settings – Get Perfect Prints

I am using a BambuLabs P1S Combo.
Firmware Version is 01.05.02.00
BambuLabs Studio Version: 1.9.1.66
Filament: Generic PETG Black

Thanks for any assistance.

OK, so I went and watched another video that filled in these blanks. I have the filaments tab now, please feel free to ignore this post.

Just one opinion: I think the guide is fine for the original BambuLab PETG filaments, which seems to be quite a specialty.
For all other PETG brands that I have tried, I had far better results with very different settings. Typically I use a nozzle temperature of 240°C and I have reduced cooling to 20% for both part cooling fan and auxiliary fan (if you have that). I have also disabled all cooling modifiers like increased cooling at small layer times and on overhangs. To me, it seemed to hurt more than help.

I’ll second the cooling being off. Started this on an open chassis printer, and continued on the P1s. Seems to help PETG alot!

Try drying your PETG (25 char)

I’ve only printed PETG in my P1S for about a year now with no issues. I recommend you get quality PETG (I personally use Polymaker) as I’ve tried others and ran into issues. Slow down speed on the slicer, specially the first layer. I also tend to use “infill combination” as well to prevent the nozzle from clogging up.
