P1S camera problem (01.05.02.00)

Printer fw: 01.05.02.00 (latest one 01.09.00.00 currently)
Bambu Handy version 3.8.0 (most up to date)

When I try to activate the printer camera from the Handy App it errors out and says:

TimeoutExeption after 0:00:10.000000: liveview timeout (app wasn’t updated)

and with the most up to date app:

Failed to enable firmware liveview service. Please check your network or restart the printer and try again [-201]

I know the printer fw is not up to date and I will keep it that way. My bambu studio (also old version, 1.8.xx something, was up to date w the printer fw version 1.5.2 at the time) could also not activate the camera on the printer. I have no network issues and I’d prefer staying on this printer fw even if the camera is totally bricked from now on, but is there a fix for this?

I found 2 entries for this same problem, which seems to have started around early 2025, both of which were not resolved. Updating the fw of the printer is out of the question for me, worst case scenario I’ll restart using the external camera I got but if there is a known fix for my issue lmk please

the main reason I am staying on old fw is xtouch compatibility, I know I have to change some stuff to make xtouch work w the most up to date printer fw and this (camera) was working before so… Removing functionality on older fw for “security reasons” (probably, idk why bbl bricked it) imo should be left as a choice to the customer. I bet they’d argue w bugfixes and security etc but as the owner of this device I think it is my right to choose on which firmware I want to stay on without it loosing its functions along the way. Make me accept something that says I bear responsibility if anything goes bad if I am on an old fw and we’re golden.

I don’t know XTouch in detail, but I have a Panda Touch display. You should be able to go up to version 1.07.00.00 without loose any functionality on XTouch. You should check this. If XTouch supports the 1.07.00.00, then you should update to the 1.09.00.00 and downgrade to the 1.07.00.00 via Handy App or via SD-Card. From version 1.07.00.00 on you can up- / downgrade the firmware via SD-Card.

I have my Panda Touch used with firmware 1.07.00.00 with out any lost of functionality. With version 1.08.00.00 the filament handling has changed and the Panda Touch lost the ability to control the second AMS. With version 10.08.02.00 the Authorization control was introduced, so you should prevent this and any higher version.

is 01.07 not the version with ams mapping problems? If it is not I’ll do that. The main reason I stayed w my 1.5.2 is that for every newer version I read an issue w them. If 1.7.00 is without any issues and the p1s inside camera works for you on that software please lmk

LAN only or cloud?

cloud, I don’t want LAN mode to be my only option for xTouch when I upgrade to 1.7 fw if that is what you are implying. If that is the case I’ll live with no stock cam

just checked, 1.6 is the fw that comes directly after 1.5.2 and it unfortunately introduces the xTouch restriction (only works in LAN mode from that point onwards). So I am guessing if there is no fix other than a fw update for the camera, I’ll just live with it

Aah… isn’t it that the XTouch had a mode with cloud login like the Panda Touch has? I’m using the Panda Touch in cloud mode to control my P1P. I thought the XTouch has the same functionality.

I’m currently on the 1.08.01.00 (the last without authorization control), but via Handy app I can go only back to 1.06.01.02. So I don’t know, if you can go to a newer version for testing your camera and back to your current version after.

So I read some stuff on xtouch discord from its maker and the bottom line is he does not want to cross paths w bbl as they said anything he does further using bbl cloud is illegal so he intentionally made the newer (newer than my xtouch firmware at least) xtouch fw to only work with LAN only mode.

Right now I can’t update the xtouch and make it only lan mode compatible, I also can’t update the printer fw to go into a fw that is not officially supported by xtouch/xperiments.

There has been people that said their xtouch worked still on 1.7 or 1.8 printer fw but those are not officially supported by xtouch so if I have an issue then I can not rely on xtouch team to help me or revert back to the 1.5.2 printer fw I am currently on that is compatible w every xtouch functions. If there was a way to revert back to the 1.5.2 printer fw I would just update to 1.9 then go back to 1.7 or 1.8 to test the camera while keeping the same old xtouch fw but bbl only allows you to download 1.7 and up according to this website

Firmware Download | Bambu Lab

Is there a way to save the now unsupported onboard fw of my printer to make a backup, in case I need to revert back to it?

I’m currently on the 1.08.01.00 (the last without authorization control)

BTT says that is the last compatible fw version too, for p1s, but as xperiments does not want to do anything w bbl cloud after 1.5.2 I am on the latest fw xtouch officially supports and anything after that (1.7-1.8) it may or may not work :frowning:

Ok, now I understand. As far as I know, there’s no way to store the 1.5.2 firmware from P1S to get it restored after using a newer firmware. I think, Bambu Lab allows only to go back to the latest 4 firmware versions via Handy App. But let me try something…

Ok, I have downgraded my P1P to the oldest possible firmware (1.06.01.02). From this version it is only possible to upgrade to any higher version (1.07.00.00 => 1.09.00.00).
