P1S Crappy First Layer part 2

I made a post last month about my trouble with terrible first layers and posted what I thought was the solution. Turns out it wasn’t the solution and it was only temporary at best. So here’s the real solution. Change your Z-offset. Underneath your printer settings under “Basic Information” you’ll see the z-offset change this to a low value like -0.02 or -0.03 this will bring your nozzle closer to the print bed and give you that proper first layer squish you’re looking for. Ive tried sanding my bed, turning the aux fan off, increasing bed temp, decreasing print speed, decreasing initial layer height, washing my build plate spotless and handling it with gloves but nothing. This is what finally worked for me.

Also very important to make sure your line width is the same as every other layer and your first layer line height can be set to about half so for 0.2 nozzle set a 0.1 first layer line height for an immaculate first layer.

P.S. made a mistake -0.02 and -0.03 are not increasing they are decreasing so -0.07 would be “bigger” i.e. bring your nozzle closer to the bed. I’m not good with negative numbers man, leave me alone.

This refers to the thread P1S Crappy first layer.
Which was closed by the system after 2 days with no reply automatically!?

yes, that very same thread. No clue why the system closed it, It was my first post and i had no idea it would do that.

Also my work and feedback from others has yielded even better results than before and I feel like i’ve cracked the code to perfect first layers on the textured PEI sheets with a P1S. Super shiny, exact texture match to the PEI sheet.

I thought it was the bed for a time and bought a new one but it seems that it gave the finished product a mate look instead. It seems the sheet that comes with the printer is “rougher” in a sense, similar to sandpaper, bigger and more spread out bumps.

If anyone else is struggling with bed adhesion or wants to achieve that perfect first layer for cosmetic purposes I advise you to read through this thread and my previous one where i show pictures of my issue.

WOW!! OMG!! Thanks man. This worked. I’ve been having fist layer issues with Smooth PEI plate. It was 50/50 each time. After the Z-offset change, the first layer has been good every time. Thank you again.

Nice to see someone benefiting from my struggle.

This is exactly what I know I need to do but my Bambu studio doesn’t have the option under basic information. I looked everywhere. Am I missing something?

Nevermind I found it in the g code, thank you so much this is exactly what I wanted to do, leveling it was getting me nowhere!

sorry I dont understand :frowning:
its not initial layer heigh?
so 0.1 or -0.02? or what?
where I have to change Z-offset in Basic info?

cant add screen of my printer settings (Bambu Lab 1.9.5.51)

where did you find this? it’s been removed from the printer basic information settings
