Could following improvements to be made to the P1S firmware:
- Light on when changing filament
- When extrude manually, it does not stop after releasing button, if I forget to release it - it extrude ‘forever’ - just limit it to 5 seconds if pressed for long.
- Long Press ‘Back’ button - move to Home from any sub menu, from Home - move to Feeding.
- SD card failure detection, as mentioned in my earlier post.

- could be done done just with an added line of G-code and a tick box in Studio.
- don’t fully understand…
A press extrudes a certain length of filament, if you hold the button for more than 5 seconds it will see that as the request to keep extruding.
Last time I checked this was intentional.
While your intentions are certainly good, I would rather prefer being able to set the length I want to extrude and that for as long as I hold the button.
It will stop at that length unless the button is released earlier.
And if you keep it pressed it will stop and you have to release and push the button again to keep going.
I loved this way on my old printer, especially when I had feeding issues to solve.
- couldn’t agree more…
It is in undue hassle with the current menu structure and back options…
Another thing I would like to add is the detection of extruder or nozzle blocks.
Since there is no sensors allowing for this we NEED a way to turn the hotend off if something goes wrong!
If there is a jam during a filament or such where the retraction or purging fails there is very high chance the hotend gets stuck - for PLA at a whopping 250 degrees Celsius.
Currently the only way to prevent a total heat creep disaster is to turn the machine off and then on again so the hotend fan kicks in.
Sadly if there already was a heat creep issue it now a total failure that takes far too much time to fix as it should be prevented to begin with.

At, 2, I couldn’t stop extruder when pressed for long, I had to power down whole printer. So if it is, that long press keep extruder running , there should be an option to stop it, like pressing Pause button, or Up arrow. It is very annoying the extruder cannot be stopped.
I would add a few other suggestions to your list. The possibility to turn off the light at the end of the print, after the hotend has cool down.
When use filament changes, display the name of the filament or filament color, so during a manual filament change (not everyone has an AMS), you can insert the correct filament. On a 5 color manual filament change print, I’ve mistaken insert the wrong color, and ruined the print.
As suggested above, colour change should also do Pause if no AMS present.
Thanks for explaining. Good info.
