Both of my P1S machines are running almost 24/7 at this point, but with slightly different roles.
One of them is focused on continuous batch production for a charity project (Pieksekisten).
So it’s less about showcase prints and more about reliability, repeatability and consistent output over long periods.
The second machine is more of an allrounder:
– 0.2 nozzle for fine detail prints
– 0.4 standard for general use
– 0.4 Diamondback for abrasive materials depending on the use case
So far:
– Printer 1: ~630 hours runtime → 1 failed plate (30 parts, one model had to be skipped due to repeated spaghetti)
– Printer 2: ~238 hours runtime → 1 failed plate (my mistake: wrong nozzle profile setup)
The allrounder also handles more demanding materials (PETG-CF, glow), which required some profile adjustments after switching nozzles.
Once dialed in, it runs clean and consistent, even for parts that need proper tolerances and mechanical fit.
What stands out to me most is that I don’t have to constantly fight the printers.
Set them up properly — and they just run.
Typical workflow:
– Long prints overnight (10–12h+)
– Shorter batches during the day
– Plate swap, clean, restart remotely via the app
That remote control feature is honestly a game changer when running printers continuously.
Only thing I’m currently looking into is room conditions:
Humidity is stable (room ~30%, AMS ~15%), but I noticed increased dust in the room, likely from airflow/exhaust — still figuring out a good solution there.
AMS works reliably overall, except for cardboard spools — those can cause issues, so I’m slowly moving away from them.
Overall:
For me, the biggest difference is not just print quality — it’s consistency under real, continuous use.
